Acupuncture is an effective method to provide stress relief if you are finding the election coverage manifesting as physical or emotional symptoms.  It has been used by Acupuncturists Without Borders (AWB) throughout the world as a method to treat traumatized citizens in New Orleans, Haiti, Nepal, and after events such as hurricanes, tornados and wildfires in other places in the United States. We will offer an AWB community-style acupuncture clinic, in which everyone will receive treatment together at the same time, sitting in a quiet relaxing space. The treatment takes about one hour, wear comfortable and warm clothes.

The Acupuncturist: Graham Marks M.Ac has been in practice for over twenty years and has worked with Acupuncturists without Borders in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake and in Brooklyn after Hurricane Sandy.  Apart from his work with Acupuncturists Without Borders, he has a classical Five Element acupuncture practice in Manhattan near Union Square. www.grahammarksacupuncture.com

The Venue: Honey’s, owned by Arley Marks and Raphael Lyon, is a cocktail bar and meadery located in Bushwick, Brooklyn, New York City’s only meadery, they produce meads combining local honey and herbal infusions. It is a quiet space in a corner of Bushwick that will provide a healing environment for all that need some relief from the unending news cycle as we head into the final week of this election year.

Town Square's Pumpkin Day has become a highlight of the fall season in North Brooklyn. This year, kids and parents will enjoy this popular event at the Brooklyn Expo Center on Saturday, October 1st.   Pumpkin Day will be held alongside this year's Schoolfest.  We offer a pick-your-pumpkin, arts & crafts, face painting, concessions, activities presented by local businesses and organizations, and live music and dance performances. Nothing kicks off autumn like Town Square's Pumpkin Day!

Tickets are $15 for each child ($20 at the patch). Tickets will get you a pumpkin of your choice and a trick-or-treat bag with decorating items. Each ticket will also come with 2 complimentary Schoolfest tickets at the door (an add'l $40 value, based on prices at the door).  Buy your tickets now and avoid long lines!  Proceeds will help benefit local Greenpoint Cub Scout Pack 7; in fact, this is the cub scouts' only fundraiser so please join us in supporting them!  Contact brad@andersonllc.com if you are interested in learning more about Lucky Pack 7.

PUMPKIN DAY FAQs

• Do I need a ticket to come to Pumpkin Day? ANSWER: NO, you do not need a ticket to come to Pumpkin Day. There will be music and many activities to be enjoyed for free. However, entrance to the pumpkin patch requires a ticket. 

• What else is available at Pumpkin Day? ANSWER: There may be tattoos, face painting, certain crafts, and yummy food for purchase. In addition, there's the pumpkin patch. 

• What is the $15 ticket for? ANSWER: You need the $15 ticket to enter the pumpkin patch. You can pick out a pumpkin of your choice and receive a trick-or-treat bag with a pumpkin decorating craft.

• Do infants need a ticket to enter the pumpkin patch? ANSWER: YES, all children need a ticket to enter the pumpkin patch.  But parents do not need a ticket (see next question).

• Do adults need a ticket to enter the pumpkin patch? ANSWER: IT DEPENDS. Every child must be accompanied by a parent (up to two parents for every family); these parents may enter the patch for free with their children. Any additional adults must have a ticket to enter the patch.

• Can I get a refund?  ANSWER: YES until September 25, 2016.  No refunds will be provided after September 25, 2016. 

• Can I buy tickets at the event?  ANSWER: YES but it will cost $20.  So get your tickets now and save 25%!

MEN’S, WOMEN’S & CHILDREN’S CLOTHING, SHOES, BOOKS, TOYS, BICYCLES, PHONES, HOUSEHOLD ITEMS & ELECTRONICS. We will accept electronics until 2 PM. Cleaned, gently used and working items please. No need to bring anything to take items. However, out of consideration for others, we may limit folks to the greater of 1 bag or the number of bags that you have brought to donate to the swap.  

$5 suggested donation to help cover costs. Town Square is a qualified 501(c)(3) not-for-profit institution. Your donation will be TAX DEDUCTIBLE to the full extent of the law. Toys, books and children's clothing will be earmarked for the Albemarle Family Residence in East Flatbush; this shelter was designed by NYC as the best shelter last year, based on perfect school attendance by their 184 children, ages 5 through 18! Please help these children and families while benefiting our environment.
