Schoolfest 2017
Saturday, October 21, 2017, 12-4 PM
John Ericsson Middle School 126
424 Leonard Street (Bayard entrance), Brooklyn

Schoolfest 2017 will be held in a school again: John Ericsson Middle School 126 in the heart of Greenpoint and Williamsburg.

Schoolfest is a beloved one-of-a-kind school fair for North Brooklyn families. Parents and students are invited to meet all types of schools from day care through high school (even college) at one place on one day. We'll have public, private, charter, magnet, community, dual language, gifted, etc...who'd have thought that there are so many?

Schoolfest offers a supportive networking and informational experience for parents and exhibitors. Schoolfest allows our neighborhood schools to share new information and projects with each other so that everyone may benefit. Most importantly, Schoolfest understands that parents can often be overwhelmed by school choices and admission processes. Schoolfest helps parents navigate through the confusion so that they can make the best choice for their child’s educational needs. Well known Joyce Szuflita of New York School Help will present workshops on the bewildering array of public NYC schools and equally perplexing admission processes for PK/K, middle schools and high schools.

We will offer an AWB community-style acupuncture clinic, in which everyone will receive treatment together at the same time, sitting in a quiet relaxing space. The treatment takes about one hour, wear comfortable and warm clothes.

The Acupuncturist: Graham Marks M.Ac has been in practice for over twenty years and has worked with Acupuncturists without Borders in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake and in Brooklyn after Hurricane Sandy. Apart from his work with Acupuncturists Without Borders, he has a classical Five Element acupuncture practice in Manhattan near Union Square. www.grahammarksacupuncture.com

The Venue: Honey’s, owned by Arley Marks and Raphael Lyon, is a cocktail bar and meadery located in Bushwick, Brooklyn, New York City’s only meadery, they produce meads combining local honey and herbal infusions. is young people. People living life to the fullest and pursuing dreams.
We are trying to find some open minded residents who will allow us to

annually in New York City parks by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the United
States, FACE Foundation and the City of New York Parks & Recreation.

The festival’s 2016 theme, “A summer in Paris”, offers a striking portrait of the City of
Lights, its urban landscape, and cultural diversity. A selection of classic, New Wave, and
contemporary films by directors such as Jean-Luc Godard, Agnès Varda and Céline
Sciamma will showcase the city’s aesthetic, cultural, and cinematic history from a
dramatically unconventional angle through stories of love, romance, adolescence, female
identity, and urban life in Parisian and its surrounding suburbs.

Two of these screenings will be at Transmitter Park in Greenpoint. All films are shown with English subtitles.

The dates and descriptions are as follows--

Friday, June 24 | 8:30 pm - Transmitter Park, Greenpoint, Brooklyn
SUBWAY
Directed by Luc Besson with Isabelle Adjani, Christophe Lambert, Jean Reno, Richard
Bohringer, Michel Galabru, Jean-Hugues Anglade, Eric Serra
1985 | Thriller | R | 1h44 | France

Subway is Luc Besson’s (Lucy, The Fifth Element) ultra-cool and stylized romantic
adventure which won French Award César in 1986 for Best Actor (Christophe Lambert),
Best Production Design (Alexandre Trauner) and Best Sound. Fred (Christophe
Lambert) is a hipster thief who falls in love with the bored and beautiful wife of the
millionaire (Isabelle Adjani) he just robbed. She wants her stolen papers back and he
wants her heart. With gangsters and Metro police on their tail, the two seek refuge in the
wild labyrinth beneath the subway and team up with the strange characters who inhabit
the subterranean world.

Friday, July 1 | 8:30 pm - Transmitter Park, Greenpoint, Brooklyn
THE 400 BLOWS (LES 400 COUPS)
Directed by François Truffaut with Jean-Pierre Léaud, Claire Maurier, Albert Decomble,
Albert Rémy
1959 | Drama | UR | 1h39 | France

François Truffaut’s first feature is also his most personal. Told through the eyes of
Truffaut’s cinematic counterpart, Antoine Doinel (Jean-Pierre Léaud), The 400 Blows
sensitively re-creates the trials of Truffaut’s own childhood, unsentimentally portraying
aloof parents, oppressive teachers, and petty crime. The film marked Truffaut’s passage
from leading critic to trailblazing auteur of the French New Wave.
