38th Annual Flatbush Frolic, Saturday, Sept 15th

FDC wrote: The Flatbush Development Corporation (FDC)’s 38th Annual Flatbush Frolic

street fair is fast approaching! Join us on Cortelyou Road, between Ocean and

Coney Island Avenues (in the heart of Victorian Flatbush), on Sunday,

September 15th from 12:00pm to 6:00pm. The Frolic will be filled with food,

children’s rides, merchandise and arts & crafts vendors.

This year’s main stage music will include performances by DECOSTER, The

Encounters, Omni Ensemble, Stanley John Mitchell, Nonlee High Teen Boogie,

Jason Yeager, Jeanine Truly with Jumping Jazz, Grey Sky Appeal, Dirty Mike &

The Boize, Roopa, Khel and Catahoula Cajun Band. In addition to music, we are

proud to feature dance and movement performances by Latin Fever Dance Studio,

Cynthia Dance Studio, Midwood Martial Arts, and Namaste Yoga.

Unique to the Flatbush Frolic is the “Just For Kids” area at the Tot Lot

Playground, hosted by Midwood Martial Arts. Children and their parents will be

entertained by Sparkle the Fairy Princess, experience hands on science

experiments with Kiddie Science, sing along with Musical Explorers, and watch

Nathan Thompson’s amazing magic show. Expectant parents can learn about

HypnoBirthing with Sara Kramer of Gentle Birthing New York and Baby Be Safe

will demonstrate First Aid and CPR. FDC’s after school program will host fun

craft projects, and all children can participate in kids’ karate, gymnastics

and yoga mini-classes with Midwood Martial Arts Instructors. Best of all,

these interactive sessions are all FREE!

Be sure to visit the FDNY’s Mobile Fire Safety Experience, or “Smoke House”

trailer. Children and adults have a chance to enter the Smoke House – which is

filled with artificial smoke – and practice fire evacuation techniques. Donate

your used eyeglasses to Grace Eye Care, who will be out collecting on behalf

of Glasses for Haiti. Additionally, P.S. 139 P.A. invites you to compete

against the Chess Ninjas, 2012 National Chess Champions, and don’t forget to

check out the non-for-profit area featuring information about all of the

programs that FDC and other local organizations have to offer.

Local business are coming out to share their wears, talents, food, and drinks,

so come see what Cortelyou Road is famous for. Join San Remo’s pizza eating

contest, check out Brooklyn Artery’s arts and crafts exhibitions, pick up

medical brochures offered by Greenfield Pharmacy, drink at the Cortelyou Beer

and Wine Garden (hosted by Sycamore, Bar 773 and Costello Plan), and visit our

local vendors, including The Farm on Adderley, Bar Chord, Coffee Mob, Flatbush

Food Coop, Connecticut Muffin, and Purple Yam.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, September 15th. This event is not to

be missed. Come Frolic with us!
