Why is it that everytime you order Dominos Pizza, their deliver time is always an hour to an hour and a half.  If you go on their website they still kind of allude to the 30 minute delivery.  That's wrong.  Piece of advice, if ever anyone needs to order from them for football gatherings, etc., make sure to order two hours in advance.  Sorry -- just wanted to rant.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

Does anyone know of any bars in the area that have NFL Ticket and will be airing all the games? The last thing I want to do is trek into Times Square to go to ESPN Zone like he has already suggested.

I have a sort of complicated rent question.  I just moved out of a place in the Slope where I had paid my last month's rent upon moving into the apartment in 2004.  I lived out the one year lease and have since remained in the apartment as a month-to-month tenant afterwards.  This past July 1, I paid my normal rent.  Then a few days later some personal stuff happened and I informed my landlord on July 15 that I intended to move out on August 15th, which he said was fine.  This left us in a situation where I was fully paid for up until September 1st because I paid for July and August's (last month) rent was paid up front in '04.  I stupidly assumed the landlord would give me back my money for the second half of August because I was not living in the apartment and had already given back the keys.  However, I did not confirm this with the landlord and now of course he is saying he won't give that money back even though I did not live in or have access to the apartment.

I already looked up the law for month-by-month tenants and it states that I had to give 30 days notice, which is what I did.  My question is:  is the landlord legally obligated to give me the money for the time in which I didn't live in the apartment?  It seems to me that one should not pay rent for an apartment they did not live in.  I know I should have discussed this beforehand but in my haste to find a new place I neglected to do so.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

I have two cats: Alpha Cat is a 13 yo male who was the sole cat for 7 years until I brought home Beta Cat, who is now a 10 yo male. Alpha is alpha in all areas, except food. Alpha lets Beta eat first and only comes to eat when Beta is done.

Ok, since this apartment is in my building I'm not going to give out the address here. I'm helping my landlord's daughter find a tenant, partly because she needs the help and because I don't want any douchebags living in my building. For under $1300, this is what you'll get (price is negotiable for a good tenant):

Good sized rent stabilized 1 bedroom on 3rd floor (maybe around 600sf, I'm not good at that stuff)

2 middle rooms (one could be a livingroom, the other an office or walk-in closet)

Someone who isn't afraid of dogs, especially big scary pitbulls. Mine is so vicious she will run away and hide if you scare her, or lick your face clean off if she likes you.
&lt;br /&gt;
Occasional noise should not bother you, Franklin Ave is surprisingly quiet here but sometimes people play music or yell. My dogs are convinced that they can scare thunder off by barking at it but I do my best to make them stop. I've also been told that you can't really hear them from the other apartments.
&lt;br /&gt;
A nice person! We are all nice people so it will be awesome if you are too.
&lt;br /&gt;

Ok, I'll be really serious now. I love my building, it's pretty quiet, the tenants give a crap and the space you get for the money is good. My next door neighbors (the handyman and his wife) have become good friends of mine, she even cooks for me! We all look out for each other and try to help each other out. Have something heavy to carry up? One of us will probably give you a hand and if we aren't able to do it, there are a few guys in the neighborhood who would be willing to help out for a few bucks. I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.

Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.
&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languished in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. And so we've come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.
&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
In a sense we've come to our nation's capital to cash a check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the &amp;quot;unalienable Rights&amp;quot; of &amp;quot;Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.&amp;quot; It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note, insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked &amp;quot;insufficient funds.&amp;quot;
&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. And so, we've come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.
&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of Now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's children.
&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. This sweltering summer of the Negro's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning. And those who hope that the Negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. And there will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.
&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
But there is something that I must say to my people, who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice: In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.
&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. And they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom.
&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
We cannot walk alone.
&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead.
&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
We cannot turn back.
&lt;br /&gt;

There are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, &amp;quot;When will you be satisfied?&amp;quot; We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality. We can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. We cannot be satisfied as long as the negro's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one. We can never be satisfied as long as our children are stripped of their self-hood and robbed of their dignity by a sign stating: &amp;quot;For Whites Only.&amp;quot; We cannot be satisfied as long as a Negro in Mississippi cannot vote and a Negro in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote. No, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until &amp;quot;justice rolls down like waters, and righteousness like a mighty stream.&amp;quot;
&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from narrow jail cells. And some of you have come from areas where your quest -- quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive. Go back to Mississippi, go back to Alabama, go back to South Carolina, go back to Georgia, go back to Louisiana, go back to the slums and ghettos of our northern cities, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed.
&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
Let us not wallow in the valley of despair, I say to you today, my friends.
&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.
&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: &amp;quot;We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.&amp;quot;

Did anyone notice the two cops who were standing on the corner of Monroe and Nostrand today and kept moving from the mailbox to hide in the trees? I noticed them and when I left they were still there. Apparantly this type of thing is a threadworthy thing here so I decided to post it.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

I need some advice on an issue that is going to start affecting myself and my neighbors here in the next few weeks. I live in an apt with a backyard and it opens up to another larger yard that is owned by Cabbad (same guy that owns the bike shop on 5th that everyone hates). This area has been shared between myself and my neighbors for the past few years as a place to hang out, throw horseshoes etc... This lot is located in the middle of buildings and has access to the road by an alley between two buildings. Now he has been threatening to turn this into a parking lot for awhile and it seems as though that time has come. Now I have some questions as to whether the zoning on my block would legally allow him to do this. Does anyone have any advice where I can find out about zoning laws on my block and if it is indeed illegal, how do I go about stoping this? Much thanks in advance for any and all advice.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;

I'm relocating from Florida (playwright) and found a place located on Putnam and Grand.  So of course I go searching for the safety factor - first thing that comes up is a link to Brooklynian and the shootings.  *L* oi vey!  I'm no stranger to the big city (Detroit, Los Angeles, Tampa, Miami)  I know there's places to walk and places not to walk...   So with that being said
