What's going on at the old McDonald's next to Pratt. It's the one right next to Blockbuster. Anybody know what's up?

Associated Supermarket Myrtle ave
(Ft. Greene, Clinton Hill, Bed-Stuy)
by Mochanet on Thu Jan 01, 09 8:40 pm |
Happy New Year all. This is just a rant. I was tired of being harrassed by my friends for being a lazy Fresh Direct snob. So after coming of the PO on Monday, I decided to pick up some needed things in that supermarket.
I picked up the items I needed mainly Sharons chocolate sorbet. Got home unpacked my bag and realized the sorbet had been OPENED and half of it was eaten!!!
Now I take partial blame because I did not have my glasses on and should have noticed that there was no plastic seal when I picked it up. I was so mad, but I did not feel like walking back over there to return it. Would they have believed me? I just threw it in the compacter.
Also, all of the items were more expensive than what Fresh Direct charged. So, I remain a Fresh Direct snob!!!! LOL
How do you guys rate that supermarket?

Party rooms or locations?
(Ft. Greene, Clinton Hill, Bed-Stuy)
by isla on Thu Jan 01, 09 6:08 pm |
I am looking at a place to have a children's birthday party. A community center, a large room, a church basement or playroom or even a restaurant would work. I am flexible on the type of space. Basically any decent sized space for a few hours is what I am looking for.
The kids are 4-9 years in age, approximately 20-25 kids. It would be great if it was a space where they could move around. I want to have a craft table. I would buy food there if necessary, but I can bring everything I need on my own.
I'd like to stay in the neighborhood so it's easy for classmates to attend. We are in Bed-Stuy. I'd like to be around the Bedford-Nostrand G stop area or in the vicinity if possible. But of course, willing to entertain any and all suggestions and ideas.
Thanks!

It's French!
(Ft. Greene, Clinton Hill, Bed-Stuy)
by prospectus on Tue Dec 30, 08 12:54 am |
I'm shocked! I asked a guy to build a set of French doors in my place, tearing a hole into a wall for the doors and filling in the old door. He said he can do it for $4,000!
Um -- that's a huge amount of money. Granted, he'll have to move some outlets and a lightswitch, but isn't four grand a little high? Have any of you had work done like this and how does the price sound to you?

Anyone have "standard" cable service?
(Ft. Greene, Clinton Hill, Bed-Stuy)
by konakazi on Mon Dec 29, 08 10:01 pm |
Hey true believers,
I've been trying to trim the fat a little and have dropped my pay movie channels from my cable service.
I find that I still only watch a fraction of the total channels I have available (no premiums) and was trying to find info on "standard cable" from Time Warner, but they don't seem to post any information about it.
I think they call standard the "Digital Starter Pak" now, as opposed to the "DTValue". You lose some extra channels like Sundance, TCM, and IFC, but I figure if I'm doing Netflix, I can just pick out movies I'd actually watch anyway instead of paying extra for the possibility of something being on.
Just wondering if anyone else has tried this out and what kind of savings it's translated to.
Thanks!
