Sorry to be so out of touch, but what's the deal with high-speed internet in Prospect Park now? They were awful quiet about the launch. Is free internet such old news that nobody blinked?
Here's a quick piece from the Oct. 7 edition of Brooklyn Papers (with a very odd sidebar):
Also, wireless is apparently coming soon to: Brooklyn Heights Promenade, and Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, and Fort Greene parks.
Nice timing, guys. I'll have to practice typing with gloves on. _________________ HOT BOARD | NEW YORK'S BEST THREADS

Excuse my digital ignorance, but how do you hook up to it?
On my laptop, it says connce to wireless, so I go there, and I don't see any names to hook up to.
Can someone give a quick 1,2,3 on how to hook up to this wireless entity.
Thanks

heh, now you can lose your valuable hard drive when getting robbed in the park.
I know the Brooklyn museum plaza is free wifi and the area around it.. ripple has it, etc etc..
I'd much rather use it in a cafe or sheltered area than just on a park bench. Thats great for the people that live around the park tho. I don't get it here, so it must not cross into the Botanical Gardens.

i'm half a block fromt he park and if it's broadcasting my computer isn't seeing it.
all the networks in my vicinity are password protected, except mine, so everyone steals my bandwith. (don't ask. it's too complicated and, basically, not fixable.) _________________ what would you tell me, if i could hear you speaking?--t.r.

Yeah, I checked too, I get nothing yet. A lot of local signals that are locked. Someone IN my building. I should find out who has it and see if they wanna split the price!

you're not going to get the wifi from the picnic house outside of the park, just near the picnic house inside the park, it's not park wide so you're not going to get it just anywhere you happen to be across the street from any part of the park
anyway with such nice weather yesterday I went to give it a try and there was indeed a wifi network there to join, but I only got connected to the router, not actually connected to the internet, I've been having this problem in other places with my MacBook so I'm not sure if it was me or a problem with the router there
