around 7 am this morning, during the off leash dog hours, a music group was doing a photo shoot in the Long Meadow of Prospect Park.
a golden retriever puppy, being naturally curious, wandered over and interrupted their photo shoot.
one of the band members grabbed the puppy by its collar and kicked it.
anyone know who this band is or the photographer?
ADDED: don't bother with your snarky reply comments, just want to identify the band guys here.
ADDED: The band has been Identified as Surefire, and Ben Rice of the band denies this happened in full page response accusing us of slander, me being a lackey, and my friend being a bitter man.
I still believe what my friend told me and asked me to post here. And if standing up for a friend is being a lackey, well, so be it.

Also wtf are they doing having a photoshoot during offleash?
I could say something about the overall look here but I just...won't. _________________ whoa hey whoa hey whoa

i agree that the person that kicked the dog sucks, but 7am is a perfect time for a photo shoot. no one is around.

Which explains them using a park for a photoshoot at 7 AM, actually. I hope they get ID'd. I need a mission lately. _________________ Babies aren't meat! They're not even people!

Lots of people plan shoots, big and small, in the park off-leash areas early in the morning thinking there won't be many people but don't know about off-leash. Most of them are nice and accept it (including dogs sniffing their equipment and them) or get out of the way.
This group was standing right in the middle of an area where lots of dogs are usually playing throughout the morning, with some stuff that would draw dogs to them (photo equipment that dogs might want to play with). The band's behavior is unacceptable.

I'm not surprised--one guy shoved my dog when she wandered over to investigate why they were laying on the ground. The owners were all doing their best to keep the dogs away, but the dogs were naturally curious about the big, shiny lighting disc and the people in crazy poses.

I won't even get into the fashion happening in this picture (I seriously live in a glass house when it comes to style but these guys really deserve it simply for their hair and small vests.) _________________ whoa hey whoa hey whoa

I don't mind the vest(s), but tuck in your shirts.
And that photographer looks like a cocker spaniel, albeit a butt ugly one. _________________ Walking on the beaches looking at the peaches.

I seriously want to find out what band this is. I would like to show up at one of their shows and kick them.

Oh my God, what is with the guy in the vest and offensively tight jeans? Is this a Strawberry Fields Forever revival? In response to what these shitheads did to that poor little dog, I would have grabbed these ugly bitches by their collars and kicked them in the fucking head.
More evidence that Brooklyn is going downhill if you can't even walk your Golden Retriever puppy (possibly the cutest sort of puppy ever) in Prospect Park without having to look out for assholes on the prowl.

Want to find out who these guys are? Take the photo to Bar4 on 7th ave and ask the bartender, most likely these tools have played there before or will in the future.
Either way these guys look like they are at the end of their music career that never even got off the ground in the first place, that's sad they find it necessary to take out their resentful feelings of failure by kicking dogs in the park.

Wow. How low can you be to do that to a puppy? Its one of the things I worry about with our dog - not my dog being pushed but what would happen to the pushee by my husband.
They should thank the heavens they didn't run into some of us, especially caseopele and Ana B, although I would have paid to see them try to push Oscar.

If anyone kicked Bruno there would be blood involved. I am small, but scrappy!
Not to mention all of brooklynian would rally behind me. I've put some feelers out and someone on another board said they've met one of these guys a few times at parties- Carmen is on the case! _________________ whoa hey whoa hey whoa

Okay totally agree re: band and dog - so wrong - but it's not the photographer's fault from what I can see so any 'comments' should be directed towards the band and band members! She may just not have known what to do in that situation and couldn't 'rein' them in. They all should have realized that you relinquish some aspect of 'control' once you plan a photo session in a public space. This was totally out of line and they - the band - deserve to be called on it.

The photographer's job is to "control" a photo shoot. Also, any real professional photographer would haven scouted a location ahead of time. She chose to shoot in the middle of off leash hours with hundreds of other locations in the park to shoot. Blame is on her just as much as the ass that kicked the puppy.

Photos of her giggling make her just as guilty. If she has no control over her own shoot, she needs to get the fuck out of the business. If anyone in my employ or that worked in any capacity for/with me did this, I'd have handed them their fucking head on a platter. End of. _________________ Babies aren't meat! I don't see how the photographer can be expected to control the people who hired her for the shoot, and by whom she was hoping to get paid at its conclusion.
Even if she selected the time and the place, the spontaneous venality, stupidity and irresponsibility of her client is not her fault (unless she knew going in that the band members were a-holes).

If your friend was so concerned what didn't she post? Was the dog injured?
How exactly do you grab a dog by the collar AND kick it?
Come on people... certainly something happened in the park this morning... sure the dog was curious and probably hyper as hell.. and sure the band member shoe-d it away... but seriously, that stoner didn't go all Michael Vick on the mut.

for the record I was walking my dog this morning and someone who i see at the park a lot mentioned this to me as well. I was not there but i dont see why anyone would feel the need to bring it up if they weren't at least a little aggro _________________ whoa hey whoa hey whoa

If you seriously want to identify these guys (rather than just wait for more unhelpful comments about the band's appearance to keep rolling in), send a link of this thread w/ photos to the guys at Stereogum, Brooklynvegan and maybe L Magazine - they might be able to ID the band.
Local record labels (who are usually the ones who pay for shoots and are often contacted by local photographers looking for work) might recognize the photographer.
Union Hall does a lot of local bookings - Skippy might have seen them around as well.

Question:
if you let your dog off its leash, isn't it supposed to be well trained? like, well-trained enough to not bother strangers?
not advocating kicking dogs, just saying.

Not puppies. It's essential to socialize puppies during their early development stages. Otherwise, you get the really bad, annoying, barking, biting dogs that cause problems. And obviously, puppies have not yet entirely learned manners.
You can't expect a puppy to not be curious. _________________ Did Someone Say Walk?

If you go into the park and lay on the ground during off-leash hours in the off-leash area, you have to expect that dogs are going to come over and want to check you out. Even a welltrained dog is curious. _________________ whoa hey whoa hey whoa
