everyone beware ---

Submitted Sat, April 22
While walking her dog Friday morning at 7:15 am, on park side of
Prospect Park West at 4th Street, a runner slammed into a young woman
at full speed. He knocked her down so hard that she hit her head on
the cobblestones. He was aware that he knocked her down but never
stopped or even turned to look. This was an intentional assault
because there was an empty sidewalk. The runner was white, dark
haired, in his 30's, solid build. According to the victim, he was
angry and arrogant to boot.
She called the 78th Precinct that Friday, but couldn't go to file an
"Aided Report" until the coming Friday. Community Board #6 connected
her with 2 Community Affairs officers at the 78th. They said it was
not a bias crime because the runner didn't say anything.
She consequently found out while speaking of this incident that
another woman was knocked over in the same manner a year ago. Both
feel it was the same person. The second woman said that she could
recognize the runner and has been looking out for him. She did not
file a report then.
This goes out as a general warning to people; especially women.
Everyone has the right to walk around the Park. If anyone has any
additional information, contact Mary McInerney, President of Fido in
Prospect PArk and she will pass it on. fidobrooklyn@att.net
A Reminder
If someone feels they have been assaulted, they should either call
911 or the 78th Precinct at 718.636.6411 which is responsible for
patrolling the Park. There are no "Prospect Park Police." There are a
varying number of Parks Enforcement Patrol officers, but they handle
things like enforcing rules for where people can barbecue, dogs on
leash, etc. Anything serious like an assault should go right to the
NYPD..

That's just weird.
Don't worry about this guy, he'll do it to - or in front of - the wrong person soon enough.
