Has anyone seen this yet or have any idea what it's going to be?

Saw the sign go up this weeked, it's on President right off of 5th. They were working on it all summer, but I thought they were converting a garage to another apartment. Now I'm thinking old fashion soda shop by the sign.

I've been wondering about this myself. It's such a weird place for a business, right in the middle of an entirely residential street.

And then a couple of days ago, a sign went up next to it that said "The Presidential Suites", which I assume is referring to whatever apartments will go above the new shop... and since I'm familiar with this apartments, it just made me laugh, and laugh, and laugh...

It looked like it was going to be some sort of office suite to me. I could be wrong.

Between 4th and 5th. In the middle of the block, between a bunch of residential buildings.

There's a spinning electric sign with a cartoon milkshake that says "Delicious On the Slope!"

Which, again, for some reason, is just funny...

between 4th and 5th. A building or two right past the little garden on the corner.

Well, maybe an office suite for the upper floors. Definately some sort of restaurant for the bottom, because when I did see the inside over the summer a kitchen was being built in the back. And I agree an odd place for a business, but a lot of people walk up/down that block to get to the stop at Union, so the foot traffic is there.

StreetLevel: Delicious on President Street?

Some Slopers have been wondering what’s going into the storefront on President Street, just west of Fifth Avenue, that’s been sporting a revolving sign that reads “Delicious on the Slope.” Why, it’s an Israeli-Mediterranean eatery/soda fountain, of course. Delicious on the Slope is the brainchild of an Israeli chef named Yair who says the hard-to-miss sign has been breeding misconceptions about the nature of his future restaurant (slated to open in about six weeks), leading people to think it’s going to be an ice cream parlor or worse—a coffee shop. “We are going to serve egg creams and have a full menu,” he says, “but I am not going to allow anyone to come and sit here with their laptop for eight hours.” And how’d he come up with his concept? “I realized there was no place else in the area to get traditional Jewish food like corned beef and pastrami.” Sounds like a good enough reason to us, and here’s hoping the nosh is indeed delish. You know what the problem with "Jewish" food is?

48 hours after you eat it, you are hugry again.

Laughing Laughing

(this joke is probably funnier when told out loud)

I just saw this place yesterday and wondered wtf...thx for posting.
We thought it was only slightly better named than The Drama Cafe and The Comfort Zone, that ill-fated Turkish place. The charm of the names appear lost in translation . . .

It's more or less across the street from Biscuit.
The owner is absolutely correct about the lack of old-style deli food around here, but I wonder:
I've never been to Israel. Can you get good pastrami there? Seriously.
