So, what is the deal with this place (supposedly opening on Vanderbilt)...where exactly will it be, and when exactly will it open? _________________ ===

I have a pretty good idea where it is, and if I'm right, they're doing a very good job of being discreet about construction.

I was noticing a promising little storefront in progress today that looked like it could have been the spot... the space next to that Claudines cleaners, across the street from joyce. Is that where its gonna be??? on Vandy between Prospect and Park? _________________ my beat is correct.

I wonder what's going on by Claudines!! _________________ like a smoked meat with an earthy youth overnote

if it weren't for the weekly charity poker tourney at cattyshack, I would NEVER cross flatbush. my goal is to transplant that bar across flatbush (not happening, I know) so that I never have to leave the nabe again. well. except for that pesky work thing.
in any case, I LOVE cocktails and oysters. hurrah! _________________ like a smoked meat with an earthy youth overnote

To me, everything sounds great EXCEPT for the cocktails. I'll drink one occasionally, but I prefer beer or wine. Bars that specialize in cocktails are usually too chichi for me. Plus they tend to be expensive. _________________ What is essential is invisible to the eye. —Antoine de Saint Exupéry

But cocktails are kind of the raison d'etre of Milk and Honey (and presumably this spinoff).

I'd wager they'll also have beer, and good brew at that. _________________ "The eagle never lost so much time as when he submitted to learn of the crow."

That comment section is ridiculous. I'm glad we don't allow guest posting on the PS or PH boards here anymore.

I know many of you are very excited about this new cocktail lounge opening up, but knowing my neighborhood and many of the people on this board who complain about soda and other bars lack service, expensive beer, lack of happy hour etc. How many of you will be happy paying $10 to $14 dollars for a cocktail, and god knows how much they will charge for an oyster? So i know most of you are big drinkers 4 cocktails plus tip about $50 dollars and throw in half a dozen oysters, make it $70 dollars, i know soda, Mooney's, Tavern, Barrette and even beast which is not my favorite are not top notch places, but with $70 bucks i can have more than 12 drinks plus buy backs, why waste money on this place that will rob you for a cocktail and will not be as welcoming as the other bars mentioned above? So my question is will this place for all the press and talk around it, will it succeed or will it fail at its own pretentiousness and vanity?

This place will be successful. No doubt. Not all of us go out and have four drinks. There are those of us who enjoy going for one or two quality drinks in a nice place and dont mind spending the money. Matter of fact I live in Crown Heights and my wife and I look forward to checking it out.

I will definitely be there. If the quality lives up to the prices, I'll be there a lot. If not, I won't.

I am happy with all of the above mentioned places, but I'm all for variety. My theory is, the more people get drawn in from outside the neighborhood, the better. Say they come once on the strength of Milk and Honey's reputation or a Time Out review? They'll probably come back to explore some of the other businesses. Or maybe start with one expensive cocktail and then move on. I wouldn't mind being able to get a splurgey kind of experience closer to home than Park Slope or Fort Greene.

Just because the Manhattan couterparts of this bar charge high prices does not necessarily mean that Weather Up will do the same. In the end, they are a business and if they overprice their product, people will stop going. This will force Weather Up to rethink their approach and adjust accordingly, as reducing prices is favorable to going out of business.
I also question whether the tendency to complain, so prevalent on these boards, is indicative of neighborhood sentiment. After all, most residents of Prospect Heights or Crown Heights, new or old, rich or poor, and regardless of race or gender, have never heard of Brooklynian.com.

Apparently loads of people have heard of Brooklynian.com, old young, rich poor, newbies oldies, just look at the board and see how many people read and log on to this board. Apparently you have heard of it since you are posting. Maybe they will have to rethink of their prices, but for the amount of rent that they probably will pay, for the amount of investment that they have put into the place, for the staff costs and plus all of their other bills, i bet they will rethink and charge $ 5 dollars for premium cocktails, i bet they will charge 50 cents an oyster, i bet they will only buy the cheapest, gins, cheapest tequilas, chartreuse, vodka's, cheapest bitters, cheapest glasses, cheapest fruits and cheapest produce, so it i bet they will have to rethink their prices and charge nothing for their cocktails so that people like you will come to their bar...

Nope, I am one of the owners of a bar in an adjacent neighborhood, but I used to go to Milk & Honey back in its early days.

Just because many people post here does not mean that most residents of PH or CH know that this board exists.
And stating that I must have heard of this board because I'm posting here is quite a perceptive comment...your intelligence is remarkable.
I agree with liftandcut, this thread is dead.
Good riddance!

You almost killed it, but the spirit lives on. Everyone chime in with your favorite non-standard cockail. I had something at ESC with honey and whiskey...don't recall the name but what a sweet buzz...

The Presbyterian is my favorite at Little Branch (Milk and Honey's West Village counterpart). Going with the bartender's choice is always a good idea, too. I'll definitely patronize this new place if the drinks and vibe are similar to that of Little Branch (and I won't freak if the cocktails cost more than five bucks).
