Who knows what the deal is with the sign on top of Great Lakes? It says:

FOR LEASE
PRIME RETAIL LOCATION

Does that definitely mean Great Lakes itself? I'm kind of in denial and hoping it's a sign for the building behind it or something. So is GL going the way of the Donut Coffee Shop? Is it time to start the mourning? Ugh.

Well, I've been hearing the rumor for months now that they were leaving. One of my friends said they heard something about whomever owns the space wanting to jack up the rent when their lease is up soon. I know there are people around here who know better than I, so maybe they've heard more definitive news.

Or the bartenders might know...

It'll be a shame whatever the reason if they shut down. It will kill all my motivation to go to that end of the neighborhood at night.

I was just going to post that same question. I saw the sign a few nights ago. I don't make it there that often since I live fairly far away in South Slope, but I'll be sad to see it go.

What I'm hearing now is that their lease expired and they're negotiating it. That is, they're not done for sure, yet. Mildly good news.

If you're really interested, there's a night at SOB's that they all go. I'll let you know. Wink I'm always glad to help a girl out.
