Is there any other post office that sucks as much as this one? The line to pick up a package that you missed because they can't ring the correct bell is miles long. Usually 50 people waiting in the pick up line every weekend. Then it takes an average of 5-15 minutes for them to locate the package at the post office. How hard is it to have two people or more working the pick up line on Saturday's. Or how about extending the day to 5pm.

The rates are going up yet again and the service is still inferior.

I can safely say that if there's one thing I do not miss about living around there, it's that post office. I'd come home and start drinking after having to spend an entire Saturday there.

I used to have to do package pick-ups at the one on Atlantic near Bedford...ugh. The cops were usually nearby because there was a good chance a fight would break out at some point on Saturday mornings. And I had to walk past lots of creepy guys who would say strange things to me or follow me up near Atlantic (maybe there was a men's shelter near). Don't miss it.

My bf had a horrible experience trying to submit his passport paperwork at the one on Atlantic near the Atlantic mall. Besides not opening that window for half an hour after the website and a person on the phone said it was open, the lady said the photos he had were unacceptable (they were done at a place that specifically does PP photos) and helpfully suggested he go to the guy she *knows* at the shop next door to get proper pics. AND she claimed she couldn't get a good copy of his birth cert. and wouldn't process his app without including the original. THEN he paid extra to have it all mailed to his office (we have lots of trouble getting mail at home), even had to fill out the envelope himself and the passport and bc were both sent, separately to our house (thank god we got them, despite them being in the common pile on the radiator).

Lots of post offices seem to suck. I will say I've had good experiences at the one on 7th Ave, just wish my missed packages could go there.

The branch on 7th Ave and 2nd St. isn't much better. If you go in the morning the lines are usually short but sometimes it is an infinity, waiting in that crappy, claustrophobic room.

The main Brooklyn post office in Cadman Plaza is large but the lines are almost always very long. At least the people standing in those lines act semi-catatonic; I've never seen a fight break out.

I was there about two weeks about and was turned away at the counter by a postal clerk (after waiting in line for about 30 minutes) because I had "too many packages" (15 padded envelopes) and the line was too long. I was then directed to use the automated postal machine instead. After I had already waited in line. Wow.

What do you expect from people who smoke too much crack (as i learned when i went to a party held by people who worked for the Brooklyn Post Office)?

Ha! I've actually walked from South Slope to the Kensington Post Office to avoid the 9th St. one...plus, they are open until 4pm on Saturdays.

i go to the post office on PPW in Windsor Terrace when i need to be in an actual PO-they are so much better~!

But, yeah, I think I waited on line for an hour one Saturday to pick up a package that couldn't be delivered to me. it was one of those-"we are too lazy to ring your bell even though you work from home and were there at the time, so, we just left a slip saying you weren't home and screw you, come get your package" packages.

One time I had to pick up a package at my local (Bush Terminal, on 3rd Ave in the 30s) and they were actually 30 mins late opening the f*cking place because none of them could find the key to unlock the front door!

when i last picked up a package, there was no problem with my package except for taking 25 minutes b/c there were 6 people in line in front of me --- ALL HAVING ISSUES. oh, and lots of people had babies and strollers which in this particular 25 minutes meant less room and lots of crying//screaming. i went there at 4pm on a monday. good times. oh, such good times....

Whenever I go on vacation, I put my mail on hold. I don't know why I bother, because the 9th street post office ignores my requests and I always come home to an overflowing mailbox. I tried both doing it online and filling out the little card, and nothing ever worked. It was great coming home from my two-week honeymoon to see giant stacks of mail in my building's vestibule.

My husband and I just moved to Bay Ridge (I'll miss ya, Park Slope, but I can't afford your real estate) and we scheduled the forwarding date for Feb. 20, knowing how bad the post office in PS is. We have yet to receive any forwarded mail. My husband called the post office and a very bitchy woman told him it takes 4-6 weeks to have mail forwarded. Strangely enough, every other post office I've ever used forwards mail right away. I may have to make a regular stop at my old apartment just to see if I got mail.

I had to get passports for a 4 year old and a baby and as per the passport rules had to bring them in person to the post office. When I asked at the front if I there was a separate window for such I was told no I had to wait in the main line which took an hour and a half on a weekday afternoon WITH 2 SMALL CHILDREN which was made even worse as it is one of the most dirty places I have been outside the third world. As I finally got to a window I was told there WAS a specially designated window for passports which now had its own separate line filled with people who had come in long after I had. They were completely unapologetic.
