My roommates and I heard the yelling last night, which isn't uncommon by Club Exit, but then we heard the shots and called the police. Does anyone know what happened? There was a huge party bus outside and tons of people in the streets, but I didn't see any signs of a crime scene this morning. Was it definitely gunshots?

We call the police on that joint every thursday and friday night. Usually we just call 311 for noise complaint.

I heard 4 shots. Bow-bow. Then Bow..... Bow.

No tape when I left this morning. I doubt that anyone was injured.

People, we gotta close Club Exit down for good. Call 311 every night. Save the report number, follow up on the paperwork they send you. After three reports, call the local precinct. That's a $1000 fee for everyone that does this. So if everyone is doing this every week that'll add up and hopefully build a case for the city to just close it down for good.

Call 311 right now if you havn't already. It doesnt matter when you make the complaint. You can call about the previous night's rukus. Just save that report number so when you get three they get $1000 fee.

Oh and they'll send you some paperwork in the mail that'll ask you when they should investiagte the noise problem. I'd say every thursday between 1am and 4am is a pretty good window for them to check it out.

Sorry, not thursday. Technically itd be friday at 1am to 4am and maybe saturday and sunday too.

Late thursday night (friday morning) is what really gets me because it's a week night. You got families sleeping, kids that go to school and parents that work.

the caution tape circled the whole corner and there were still 3 squad cars. this was early, probably at like 8 o clock or a little earlier.. club exit is crazy. i didn't realize there had been a busload of people there. i find it kind of amusing, but then i sleep with earplugs and live a little ways down the block. now that i think about it, i'm not surprised a shooting took place there. the people at that place come in huge limos and are always totally wasted. the dudes are the epitome of macho behavior. i will call 311.

I live on Kent Street near Manhattan Avenue which is 2 short blocks away from Club Exit. This morning my boyfriend (who actually lives in what I thought was a less safe hood than Greenpoint) woke up to move his car and discovered the window had been shattered for no apparent reason. His car doors were even unlocked. He came inside to tell me that some MF bashed in his window in my "lovely" neighborhood. I suspect some of the Club Exit morons were the culprits. Now I can't complain about his neighborhood, Bed Stuy, anymore.

you people need to get jobs, especially "math" who i'm sure is the idiot that put the flyer on my car a few weeks ago. the club has been there over 10 years, and never had the drama you washwomen are crying about. the shooting had nothing to do with the club at all,one shooting in 12 years, a block away no less from the place and you guys start yelling its the clubs fault.go figure, someone got shot in N.Y., read the papers,it happens once in awhile, man up! and why couldnt it have been undesireables from mc'donalds? since they are open later now, theres alot of seedy people hanging out in that joint,i wouldnt walk in at night and buy a big mac. why arent you petitioning that place?maybe they should close at 10 so you can sleep. and what about the bodega on the corner? thier open 24 hours, you ever see the dregs going in and out of there? drunk kids from europa, and all the other hipster bars up and down the avenue, that have 20-30 people hanging out in the street because the bars inside are so packed.you think your not in danger getting a pack of gum over there at 2am? you probably started the "say no to starbucks" campain also. this crusade against exit is ridiculous, you sound like an angry girlfriend trying to get back at her boyfriend, and i'm sure the police recognize that. why dont you just build a bunker upstate or something and burn your computer.

another bandwagon dope...why dont you people have a meeting about closing every bar in greenpoint, then when thats done, you can focus on manhattan.
one question...why would someone that can afford a $20 cover charge, and is probably wearing pants that cost more than your boyfriends car, waste thier time,or even think about breaking his window? does that make any sence at all?? i would think the "culprits" from exit wouldnt park down by kent because of the trash like you that live there,it isnt safe enough to leave your car there at night.

Na zdrowie,

You are obviously an exit hack, cause your arguments are as stupid and dis-jointed as the polish-mafia hulks that guard its doors! idiot! mcdonalds aint open at 4:00 in the morning, and that bodega sure as fuck is not the problem. Dipshit, I live across from that shit hole you call a club and guess what - its a shit neighbor. I am all about having a good time, but the shit that woke me up at 3:45 was anything but. You guys should be damned ashamed, you presided over an event where some people wound up shooting some other people. WTF kind of unprofessional event management shit is this? Really? C'mon - you guys == FAIL. And its time you moved out.

Can I tell you something as your neighbor? Lets all agree that gp ave is noisy as fuck, and its gritty. But in the three years I've been here I've never perceived danger...until last night. See, what you don't seem to understand is that these buildings that border DA CLUB are inhabited by PEOPLE, and many are asleep. Guess what else- some of us have kids. So when a bunch of people start screaming and shooting at each other, in front of your stupid "club", after attending a party at your stupid "club" we are GOING TO BE WELL FEED UP WITH YOUR STUPID "CLUB"!

Dude, club exit put me and members of my family's lives in danger. If you know anything about handguns you know that stray bullets hit unintended victims. If one or our kids or spouses had been hit by such a bullet you can trust that you're stupid fucking club would be sued into non-existence.

Na zdrowie, don't make a stupid polish joke out of yourself. If you are with exit, you owe your neighbors a giant apology and a dialogue. Seriously, if you think its "cool" to profit off of people who shoot at each other at your events then you do not deserve to host events any longer. GROW THE FUCK UP, CAUSE THE NABE SURE IS! Its your survival, you decide.

I live at Greenpoint and Eckford. Last night we heard the shots and looked out - there was a man in the middle of Greenpoint holding a semi-automatic. He jumped in his BMW and drove away.. We got the license plate and gave it to detectives. They said a woman was shot twice in the leg.

Obviously this is a problem with Club Exit. There have been consistent problems over the last few years, from McDonald's windows being broken out to the car that smashed into the funeral parlor at 4 am.

for your info,i have nothing to do with exit, ive been there twice and personally dont like the "disco" club scene.
my point is it seems to me you people are participating in a witchunt, and to use racist comments like "polish mafia hulks" is ridiculous, occasionally when i walk past the place going home in the morning,i usually notice black doormen,or "niggers" as you would call them,or one lone guy sweeping up the street who hardly looks like "polish mafia"
ive been living here 15 years, and have seen the amazing turnaround its gone through, for the better, and the only danger i percieve in the neighborhood now are simple minds like yours.i'd like to spend all day on this matter as you will, but i have to go to work.

try using spellcheck next time,if you speak as well as you spell, there's a reason the cops ignore you.
i might take a walk over and actually attend this meeting just to listen to you knuckleheads scream & shout.sounds like a fun time.
and you say no police presence? there's more cops driving up and down manhattan & greenpoint ave's than any other neighborhood in n.y.
if your so down on the lack of police protecting you,why dont you go to the club and ask the "polish mafia" for help.

why i'm so interested in this topic i'm not sure. but i figured i would call the police pct. myself to see what happened. apparently the girl wasnt even a clubgoer, coincidently she was from the charter bus that had nothing to do with exit, and was grazed in the leg with a bullet during an argument. the club was closed at 3am,and the incident happened at 4am.
so you might as well blame exit for the earthquake in chicago

The club closed at 4, as always... I was there. That's the only reason there was a huge crowd on the street when the shooting happened; wear else would 100 people wearing their clubbing clothes have come from?

If it's true that the police told you that it closed at 3, they lied. Personally, I'm skeptical that they'd even respond in that kind of detail to a telephone call from someone uninvolved in an incident under investigation, which would mean that the lie is not theirs.

According to the Daily News article on the shooting, this is also untrue. The girl who was shot had just left the club ("when it closed at 4 a.m.") after attending an event sponsored by a student group at SUNY Old Westbury. That probably also explains why the charter bus was there: to bring students from that campus to the club.

So basically every attempted refutation in that post of what everyone else was thinking in this thread has been disproved.

ok genius, keep believing everything you read,
i found it strange the girl who got shot in the calf, told the police that she didnt come from the club, they wouldnt let her in, or anyone from the bus inside the club for that matter, they were turned away.and also at the meeting tonight,if you were there you would have heard some angry neighbors had also backed up the "club" maybe not intentionally, but by stating they heard the crowd outside complaining that they werent allowed in exit, that the doors were closed.
one suprise tonight was that it wasnt actually "hip hop" night, it was a college party, thrown by promoters from schools like st. johns,c.w. post, n.y.u., westbury suny, stonybrook ect.
and yet,the biggest suprise tonight, which i thought was pretty ballsy and classy, and shocked most of the crowd, was that the actual owner of exit was at the town meeting to answer all questions.he stood there and listened to the non facts, and rumours that people heard from 4 different friends, but had no actual proof of,and he calmly told everyone that he will cancel the college parties from now on that they were having on thursdays. which i'm assuming, was basically to let everyone know they wont have anymore of "those" types in the neighborhood to worry about, which one women actually said out loud.
one other suprise was that exit has been there for 13 years.so basically the story sounds like they started letting "those" people in since march, and the neighborhood wants them shut down.

p.s. from what the captain said tonight, there has been more violence/assaults/shootings at the high school and the park, than at exit.

obviously you were at the news stand waiting for the new edition of the national enquirer or the globe, waiting to read about more interesting topics, while i,as a concerned neighbor, was at the town meeting with many others.as far as my "unsubstantiated claims" and "credibility":

FACTS:
as stated in the meeting and backed up by neighbors, the people on the bus were not from inside the club, the doors were closed at 3am. they were not letting anymore people in exit.as the crowd outside complained that they were not allowed in.

the girl in question was "grazed" in the leg. not shot in the head as stated in another forum.she even ran from leonard st. to starbucks after she was hit.

the club isnt run by "polish mafia" the owner is actually italian and was born & raised in greenpoint.

the person that crashed into the funeral parlor a couple of years ago, actually ran over a club paton, and had nothing to do with exit.he was a random drunk, coincidentally crashing into a funeral parlor next to a bar.

mc'donalds new owner has redone the inside and is now open latenight, closer to 4am. maybe 24hrs,not sure about that yet.

there are 40 + bars in greenpoint,so when a car gets broken into on kent ave,its not exit's fault.

the older gentleman with the cane that was at the meeting was mugged by 3 polish guys.

exit is also not the cause of the graffiti,or the loud noise from the construction site's,or the assaults at the school.

in closing, the captain of the 94, and the owner of exit, have sat down and spoke, and will try to work together to make the neighborhood safer and quieter.

i'm done.

"The doors were closed and they were not letting anyone in" is completely different from your earlier claim that the club was closed at 3. The club was packed at 3, so they weren't letting any more people in. That left a large crowd of angry people waiting outside. At 4, the club closed and that large crowd came out and joined the outside large crowd. There were hundreds of people then on the street, and somebody started shooting. The fact that the innocent bystander who got hit didn't manage to get into the club as she intended is irrelevant, as is the fact that her wound was minor.

Club Exit won't close down. Keep on calling 311, nothing will close it down. Unless people stop coming. These last couple of months it has been packed to its limit and what happens outside isn't exits problem.

Thursday nights are the worst. I was driving by one time at around 1am and you see no white crowd at all. Im not being racist, im just saying, those are the worst night cause those are the college nights. They should just get rid of thursdays but as we all can see money is more important to the owner.

I got to exit on Fridays & Saturdays. I see no problems at all, everyone gets along until the occasional drunks start fighting. They just escort them outside and what happens from their isn't exits problem. All you yuppies & hippies stop complaining.

so exit cancelled all future college nights after this incident, and i'm sure had to make good on a few dollars to the promoters...but anyway, now europa is having the same promoters hold the college night over there! lol
i was just curious as to when the mettings and or flyers will be about closing europa?

We still live in one of the safest neighborhoods in NY, let it go! This is a city with 8 million people. You can't expect this bubble to be immune to everything... But really, if you're worried about getting shot in greenpoint, start playing the lottery...
