Games would be cool, but wifi? I never felt the need to bring a computer with me to a bar. If we are taking requests, I vote for no wifi.

curleygreg, can you share some pix with us? The windows are so well-draped with construction-grade paper, that you really can't peek in. That drives me nuts!

I am so excited for this place to open! I hope I have the time to really check it out-I'll be in school full time and working full time. Which makes for a shitty fall, lol!!!
Good luck, though!!!!

Curleygreg, do you expect this place to basically only be supported by people who live in Windsor Terrace & Park Slope? Or do you expect this to attract people who live in the Lower East Side, Williamsburg, etc, to take a trip down here?

ugh. i sort of hope not. Although i know it's good for business and i do wish curleygreg all the success in the world, it would stink to have the reverse bridge & tunnel crowd decend upon the block a la Union Hall.

I would also say "Ugh I hope not" to that!
It's anyone's guess how people in the hood will respond to our new place, but I'm hoping to strike the right chord with a good amount of them (can never make everyone happy). I personally have been living at the southern end of WT (5-6 yrs) and have always wanted another option as far as bars/restaurants go. And that video store is sooo perfectly suited for one... I'm really excited!
But that said, I'm a little superstitious about talking about it too much in a public forum such as this one... and I already fear I've jinxed the place to some degree. But all the feedback has been great and I thank everyone for chiming in!
no worries about being superstitious, greg. i am, too.
just one more question: when do you think you're going to open? _________________ Get your paws off my canned chicken

that's pretty much at the top of the list for things to be superstitious about! what i can say is that we don't foresee too much difficulty with the build-out, we have a good crew/contractor and some experience doing this kind of thing... so, sometime this year?
great! that's all i needed to hear to satisfy my curiosity
i wish you the best of luck, and i look forward to meeting you at your new venture _________________ Get your paws off my canned chicken

I keep trying to see if there is any work being done on this yet... but it doesn't look like it. Dying to know when it is going to open!

yes, an update is in order...
work has been getting off the ground pretty s-l-o-w-l-y for the last month. all of the typical factors are to blame... DOB hoops to jump through, etc... but, starting this week, it's going to become more and more obvious that something is happening in there! and it'll all be happening faster, going forward.
that said, some things just take time (inspections, liquor licenses, thinking of a name, etc) and there's nothing anyone can really do to speed it up (especially the naming part).

Then perhaps a "Name-Off" is in order.
This is Brooklyn, rife with creatives and opinionated citizens who would jump at a chance to participate in naming what's already going to be a neighborhood darling (my wife and I are planning on visiting often).
