I want this place to open SO badly. It's where the old coffeeshop was on 7th ave bt 11th-12th streets (with the yellow awning.) I know most people here are aware, but someone from Big Nose, Full Body is opening a winebar here (he also works a few nights a week at Steinhoff tending bar, as a sidenote, which is where I've gotten this info since I'm at Steinhoff about 4 days a week...) Supposedly the opening should occur in Sept and I walked by today and peeked inside- the backyard looks pretty ace! I'll keep everyone posted as I hear/see more development.

I hope they serve some of that yummy Malbec or a sexy Shiraz, Albarino is hot right now, maybe we can get zippy with that! Did you know that movie "Bottle Shock" is based on a true story? Take that France!

Carmen, you just made my day!!!! Really, a wine bar close enough I will actually be able to crawl back home from it!?!?!?!??!?!!? That is FANTASTIC NEWS!!!

And, by the way, the Big Nose Full Body guys really know their wines, so the hood is in luck!

To be honest, I am a loyal slope cellars patron who refuses to go anywhere else in the hood, BUT I will be enjoying this winebar for sure.

Just spoke to Brian at Steinhoff (and tipped him off to our little interweb haven that is brooklynian) and they've got their liquor license in order and are looking at inspections this week and an opening around the first week of oct (2nd week latest.) I'm sure he'll be reading this thread so... Hello and join the conversation! I'm stoked...

I know they're doing a cold bar, I would assume that means cheese. And I have confirmed MANY times that there will be a wide range of by-the-glass price points (more affordable than Total, I believe) so I'm excited to maybe have some $7-8 a glass options instead of all $10+. Let us rejoice!

I'm excited too. I hope it has a beer table like feel. I love beer table but am MUCH MORE of a wine drinker.

Also, not totally related, but carmen, do you work at Steinhoff or just hang out there or eat there 4 days a week? Just wondering.

I should work there. I hang out there and read like 3-4 days a week (sad.) I use it as my social interaction for the day since i work from home. I actually only eat there a few times a month since I try to not eat out if I can help it, but I usually have a glass of wine and bs with the bartenders.
