I feel like the options suck in Park Slope. Am i wrong? Where can I get some food when I'm drunk?

Albaz, on Flatbush by the 7th Ave subway station. Great late-night cheeseburger!

If you're feeling like spending some money, the kitchen at Blue Ribbon is open really late every night.

You're kind of right. If you can get to Mango or Smiling Pizza on 7th Ave before 12 AM, you're lucky.

I have had a night or two stumbling around on 5th Avenue looking for that slice of pizza that tastes best when drunk. The only pizzas I ate those nights popped out of my freezer.

I think the one on the corner of 4th is 24 hours. Smiling is usually open pretty late too. The donut shop is a great late night stop.

If you want a cold, stale bagel, the bagel shop on 5th + garfield is open 24 hours.

Albaz is 24 hours. if you want a full, sit-down meal, go to Tavern on Dean in PH - their kitchen is open mega late (3 a.m. on weekends, I think).

7th Avenue Donuts by 9th Street and 7th Ave. Open 24/7/365. Perfect for when you're bombed and don't give a shit about what's on your plate.

When drunk and struck with pizza cravings late at night in Park Slope, I've pounded the pavement and retreated back to my den empty-handed. I do like Mango, but found myself sprinting there one Saturday 5 minutes before midnight, busting through the door Indiana-Jones style to beg for food before they closed.

Dee Dee closed awhile ago. A falafel joint took it's place. Now, I believe that place is shut down as well.

I know we don't support corporations (sp? - me drunk) but having a DD on Flatbush and St Mark's is really nice =)

hey, we have a DD on 9th street and 5th ave, (and 2nd ave and 14th street). sadly, chain businesses can take over independent mom and pops' (rite aid, barnes and noble, starbucks, et alia.) but i have to believe there's another side to that coin: more jobs for people here, and more potential customers brought to 7th ave.)

and i won't hit rite aid because of the "emergency contraception" thing (and because their pharmacy staff has much to be desired. like a lack of decency, personality, and following the HiPPA laws and speaking with you about your drugs in a loud public manner)

Did you mean 3rd & 14th? 'Cause that's my DD, and I can tell you another advantage of chains -- they can afford to operate in places like this where a nice mom-and-pop might not thrive. Based on observation over the last couple of years, I'm pretty sure the drive-thru business keeps the DD on third open, so that it can keep me supplied with sweet, sweet caffeine. Smile

yes, you can get through the drive thru at 15th, which is why i think it's there. i don't happen to love DD coffee, but the convenience of the drive-through when i'm heading to jersey to my mom's (that's pretty much why i'm heading that way, if i'm heading that way) makes me stop every time.

DD wouldn't be my first pick either, but in terms of convenience, everywhere you go it seems your two easiest choices are that or Starbucks, and I prefer DD to Starbucks.

I think the quality of DD's coffee varies regionally -- I swear, they brew it stronger the further north you go.

I'm anti-Starbucks. So glad I'm not into coffee, because I'd be challenged not to go in there

Purity Diner on 7th and 7th is much better than Grecian. They're too greasy/dirty. Course if you're drunk who cares. I'm surprised I'm alive from the dives I used to eat way back when ;)

My husband much prefers DD coffee to Starbucks. He even buys it to make at home.

Got this in an email the other day. Blog about Brooklyn Diners. Haven't really looked at it yet.

so long as i can get entenmann's and ben & jerry's 24/7, then that pretty much covers it.

Holy shit Idlewild, that was the place I was going to recommend. It's just about the only place open when I'm riding by at 1am. I've never been inside, however. It looks greasy.
Another option is DunkinDonuts at... I believe it's 6th ave, and Atlantic, I think. If you go after Midnight, you can get 4 donuts and 2 cappuccinos for $4.

Good point. I don't think I will stop in there any time soon, but you never know when the late night munchies hit! Even so, I would rather take a ride to white castle on Fort Hamilton.

In all fairness to the greasy spoon, aka Chewy Lou's, they do make great donuts. Especially when they're right out of the fryer and just iced. As far as White Castle goes those sliders are deadlier than any thing Chewy's can whip up. Although I do like their clam strips. I'd go down to Popey's on Empire and Flatbush when I drove a cab. Sometimes the Wendy's or McD's nearby. Oh hell we should just be honest and admit that most places use the rats they catch and kill as fillers and re-use the food other people don't eat. Gray's Papaya should take over the newstand/deli at the Q/7th Ave station. I'd give them 50% of their biz alone.

What aboot the tique? Bageltique, that is. Drunkeness perfectly complements the food and ambience.

Bit worried by the whole "closed for renovations" thing, however. Heard rumours of sushi being added to the menu. Tique, don't fail me now!

Maybe she wasn't drunk enough. Razz

I went to the Dunkin Donuts again, tonight.. I was so wrong in my previous post. It's the one on 5th ave and 9th st. Across the street from the Smiths Tavern and Eckerd.

I had some terrific pineapple rice at Mango, but other than that, I do not feel compelled to visit there again.

Does anyone ever go to Mr. Chows (is that what it's called?) That place always looks empty. I went there once, and the staff was so bored they just stared at us the whole time.
