It's on 328 Flatbush between Park and Sterling. Right by the Crunch.

I walk by there every day. I'll try to keep a closer eye on what's going on for you.

Yeah, if someone does walk by today could they let me know if it's open? I have packages waiting for me there but I haven't been able to make it there until after they close for about the past week... I was going to have even more things delivered there but will obviously hold off until I can confirm that they aren't (permanently) closed.

Call the BBB and complain. If that doesn't work, call one of those "Shame on You" type shows.
Last resort...I would think that since the property is mail, you could get the government involved as tampering with the mail is a federal offense. Not sure if this would qualify as tampering, and ... that said, I wouldn't start with this approach

I walked by today and it looked like they have been officially closed by the courts or something like that, meaning they probably didn't pay their rent. I don't think this will be the last time we see something like this happening. Sorry about your mail, but those guys are great and I am sure that if they could get in there to give you your mail they would. _________________ Sentiment without action is the ruin of the soul.

I just got an email from an irate customer of MAIL BOXES OF PARK SLOPE ... she says the business was closed Friday Oct. 17, 2008. She said the owner didn't notify her that he was aware of the possiblity of the eviction:
"All of us that rent boxes have mail & packages locked inside. The Landlord's management company isn't corporating with our phone calls." _________________ HOT BOARD | NEW YORK'S BEST THREADS

This is just my luck..If anyone reading this knows the landlord's contact info or has any advice on how to go about getting my packages I'd be glad to hear it. I'm assuming I better just write off the money I paid in advance for package acceptance service through the end of the year.

Unless the laws and Rules have changed, your mail has been delivered as far as the USPS is concerned. You used that "store" as your mailing address. I am afraid it is between you (as well as the other "customers" of that store) have no one to go to except the authority listed on any closure notice. _________________ Old Goat in FL-Warren

Well, so far here are the people I've called who can NOT help. Maybe it'll save someone else some time:
-311 (they told me to call the NYS Consumer Protection Board)
-The NYS Consumer Protection Board (They said to call the local precinct and report it as a theft.)
-The local police precinct (They say they have no info and that since it's a mail matter I should call the Post Office. Failing that, call civil court.)
- Civil Court (No info whatsoever)
-The Post Office (They took a report and vowed to investigate, but it doesn't sound too hopeful.)
So yeah, not really sure what the next step is... Guess just to wait and hope the landlord allows people to get their packages.

who is the landlord? Property Shark, etc should be able to tell you this.
While they may have a grudge against the guys who ran the post office business, they may be more sympathetic to its customers.
Call the landlord directly. Don't post the landlord's info here, because this may cause "uninvolved members of the public who are looking someone to be angry at" to call. ...causing the landlord to hate the cusotmers in error.

FLATBUSH?!? My God, I'm surprised they actually GET mail out there. As such, I'm less than surprised at these developments. Don't you Flatbush people carry guns and knives and such? I suggest you just storm that building and take what's yours with the enthusiasm you rob others. I wouldnt go through there during the DAYTIME

I have tons of packages there. I don't really know what is going on. If anyone finds out anything can you please write me at lawrence.bonk@gmail.com. Write me also for the landlord's number. I will cry manilla tears if this place closes for good and I lose my packages.
The landlords, Sol Goldman Investments, are notoriously hard-nosed. I could not even get them to return my calls back then. But since you are customers, they may have a duty to help you out.
As for Mailboxes of Park Slope. It has been one of my favorite local businesses since I moved to the neighborhood a little over four years ago. The staff were always very helpful and friendly. I am sure if the owner could have avoided this, he would have. Likewise, I am sure he will find a way of helping out his former customers.

If you are one of the unfortunate folks who have a mailbox at this location, I have some news for you. I stopped by this am and saw a notice posted by th USPS informing people that we have 10 days from the date on the notice (which was yesterday 10/21 - though it was only posted today 10/22!!!) to pick up your mail at the Adephi Post Office at 950 Fulton Street Brooklyn 11238! Though it is still in our zip code - be forewarned it is way the heck out there in Brooklyn and not easily accessed by public transportation! All the best - to all of us small biz owners who are now in a difficult position because we had no idea what was happening and now we must scramble to figure out how to continue on with our businesses. FYI Please start contacting your clients, vendors, family and friends etc to give them another address to mail checks, invoices etc too! _________________ peace out! rico

Just got off the phone with Sol Goldman's legal department. Apparently Mailboxes of Park Slope will be open this Thursday, 10/22/08, btw 5pm and 7pm, and Friday, 10/23/08, btw 9am and 12pm, so that customers can retrieve mail. No word on whether or not this includes packages.

Indeed, this just came in by email from the irate customer:
Quote:
Today I received corporation from the mgmt. co. The post office is allowing customers to pick-up our (incoming) mail at 11238 post office on Fulton St. & Cambridge Place. This service will be open to us for 2 weeks (ending Oct. 31th), Wed. pick-up time:8AM - 5 PM and Sat. from 1PM - 3 PM. And we will be able to pick-up the mail (that was locked in 328 Flatbush) this Thursday, 5PM to 7 PM and Friday from 9AM - Noon. There's still the problem of customers that pre-paid for months ahead. I paid for 6 mos. and most customers paid for the entire year. I quess, small claims court is the answer.
I feel bad for the manager, Tamsure, he was called by the owner (Adam Williams) and asked to handle the customers & be present when we get our mail on Thurs. & Fri. Adam is hiding.
If anyone is ever in need for computer repair/programmer, Tamsure is the best. We lost our mail service but Tamsure lost his job.

I passed by the line as I brought my daughter home from daycare...
The line basically went halfway along the Crunch. Not a great shot, but all I had on me was my cellphone. _________________ Windsor Terrace=>Park Slope=>Prospect Heights=>Park Slope.

I've been out of town from Oct. 10 - 31 for our wedding and subsequent honeymoon. I just walked by today (Nov. 1) and discovered that the business has been abandoned. I had a prepaid service and had notified all of our wedding guests to send packages to that location. If anyone has any additional information - especially how to contact the landlord - so we can retrieve our wedding gifts, please e-mail me at: tikitania (at) gmail (dot) com.
From the scant information on the postings so far I'm starting to panic, but if there's ever a "SHAME ON YOU STORY" that could grab headlines, this could be it. On the other hand, my husband and I were joking that if they decide to get it on tape, with our luck, we would discover that no one sent us wedding presents! Like Geraldo going into Al Capone's vault! (One has to make light.....or go nuts.)

I saw a message posted that all unclaimed mail would be marked "abandoned" and returned to sender. You might want to contact your wedding guests. Maybe because I'm getting married next year and pondering where people should send gifts, I was thinking of a situation like yours when I noticed that the LL was opening the place for two days one week. What if you were out of town and just missed everything? I think that gifts will be sent to my parents' house. Can't trust the PO not to lose the packages; can't trust a place like this to stay in business.

Does anyone know the landlords number ? Please post it here if you do.
I found out today that the post office will NOT forward any mail sent to 328 Flatbush EVER so that means not only have I lost packages that were inside the building or sent to me after it closed (I wasn't paying attention and didn't know until 2 days ago it was shut and now any packages the USPS had have been sent back) but I also won't be able to get any mail sent to that address in the future.
The fact is it's almost impossible to tell everyone you work with your new address and also I have no way to stop a number of packages that are on the way to me - this is without a doubt shocking.
Also more importantly does anyone know what really happened ? Adam was always saying the landlord was going to raise the rent and he was thinking of moving but to just close like that out of the blue with no notice is INTENSE and scary. I feel for the guys who worked there because this does not seem like them.
I had a mail box there since 1999 !
I hope SOMEONE say the BROOKLYN PAPER or something does a PROPER STORY on this ...

Has anyone heard whether the UPS and FedEx packages Mailboxes accepted will also be sent back to the senders? Thanks for any news.
