Does anyone know what's happening with Lost and Found bar on Franklin and Greenpoint? It's one of my favorite places to go, but it's been completely closed the last couple times I've tried to go - newspapers over the windows, the works. Looks like it shut down. Does anyone have any other information? It was one of the best places in the neighborhood and consistently had a good crowd.
ok here's what i know. i share your feelings toward lost & found. it is/was my favorite bar. a few months ago while extremely shitfaced there (like ya do) i was talkin to one of the bartenders and he told me how the place got bought out and would be closing soon for a while so interior renovations could happen. this sent me into a trance of sad which can be seen by a post not far down i made about such occasion. then it never came and i thought all was honky dory til they no longer had free hotdogs. then the other week as i was riding my bike up to repo records i see the sight you speak of here. and my heart and liver sank.
so with that being said and gauging my conversation with a trusty beer slinger, it will be closed but not for too long. but i fear it will change and not in welcoming ways. so help me lawd if they dispose of the skeeball, photobooth and pool table... _________________ "the radio makes hideous sounds"

I hope it opens back soon. I've always liked that place through the name changes (remember when it was Lulu's?).
Indeedy, I just hope much doesn't change inside. And the bartenders stay the same. Fixin up the jukebox can't hurt (it's got Jawbreaker, legit). And dangit bring back the free hot dogs! _________________ "the radio makes hideous sounds"

I never really cared for Lost and Found too much. In the majority of cases, free hot dogs would fix that, but not this one.
I love Black Rabbit as well but its two totally different bars. Can't even compare em. _________________ "the radio makes hideous sounds"

I went to Lost and Found once and loved it. its funny that you say that about the types of bars that Black Rabbit and Lost and Found are. I later went on a date at Black Rabbit and we left for a change of scenery. Low and behold, lost and Found is not open.
I like the Black Rabbit, but love the rawness of Lost and Found.
L&F will be reopening soon, but under a different name probably. The folks who own Alligator, Crocodile and Charleston own it. It's been closed so they can put in the pizza kitchen and offer up free pizza with every beer. I am not in anyway against this (though I did love the free veggie dogs). I just hope the interior is drastically compromised by this. And the skeeball, pool table and photobooth remain. _________________ "the radio makes hideous sounds"

Looks like some progress being made. There's now a sign in one of the windows reading "Alligator Greenpoint."
A loss of name... one of my fears. My friend who lives on that corner told me it looks open tonight. I'm too tired to ride my bike up and find out for myself. The weekend shall tell! _________________ "the radio makes hideous sounds"

Hmm... I'll try to swing past when I get back to the neighborhood tonight, though I do have an "appointment" at a different bar.
Man I wanna check this out so bad. Stupid band practice. OK I take that back... If you make it by, feed back please! _________________ "the radio makes hideous sounds"

Well, rtraindweller, you can relax. I stopped in last and it is basically the same place. The one big change is that at the end of the bar where you used to pick up hot dogs there's now a counter and the kitchen with the pizza oven. Above the kitchen's ceiling is now a balcony style seating area, and the other balcony on the other side is still in place. That does mean that the main floor upstairs is now significantly smaller, and the area where the skeeball games were isn't there.
Generally the place is cleaned up a little but still essentially the same decor, and the same bar area with the signature bar counter.
Same staff is still there, Katie was working tonight. They'll still have bands a couple of nights a week. Skeeball and pool aren't likely to be back, she said, but probably Buck Hunter and things like that will be installed soon.
I will mourn the loss of the skeeball and pool, greatly. But I will indeed welcome Buck Hunter with arms wide open! And I'm glad the staff is all still there! They treat me well. Great to hear that bands will still be playing as well. Thanks for the review! _________________ "the radio makes hideous sounds"
