So I was just walking home from the grocery store and noticed a dead cat in a tiny black grocery bag[/b] just lying by the curb between parked cars on Prospect Place between Nostrand and New York Ave. (closer to Nostrand) The house nearby had cats around the yard, so I'm worried that those people may have been the sick bastards that were so negligent in disposing of the cat in the street. I called 311 and reported the cat to the sanitation department, but am wondering if anyone knows of any other animal mistreatment going on around the area or on the block?

That's good of you to post about this. Mistreatment/killing animals is bad enough but, according to law enforcement, those who murder people often start out by killing/torturing animals and "graduate" to killing people.
Obviously, we don't know if the animal just died naturally or was mistreated or killed but the police should definitely look into this and/or take a report in case there are similar incidents that are going on in the vicinity.
