Hi guys -

New here but i thought I'd ask to see if anybody knew what the hell is going on with the Brooklyn Beverage Barn on the corner of Bedford and Prospect. Are they closed down for good? It's been about 4 weeks or so.

I have been going in there 3-4 times per week since I moved to this neighborhood in November of last year and got to be very friendly with the staff and never thought for a moment they were planning to close down. They just got a big shipment of some of my favorite beer a week before they closed!

The owner told me he was trying to make one half of it a bar, and I have seen them doing some work on the interior of the store...

Closed or just renovating? Either way, it's upsetting to see doors closed without any notice or reason.

They are closed for good
I spoke with Nick, the owener< and he said sales were in the dumper and he was bleeding money

He thought he could save it by opening part of the space as a BEER BAR, but he couldn't get the liquor license quickly enough because of the craiziness in Albany, so he gave up

He still has the bar in Red Hook

Lights were on this evening, so I peaked through the gate and past the window... It's completely bare inside.

Very, very sad indeed. It was one of the few places and people I enjoyed frequenting... And they were always so nice to my Great Dane, Liberty.

So much for great beer in Crown Heights.

Although check out the little supermarket on the corner of Franklin and Lincoln... The guy Tony there always has some decent micros in stock. I'm not walking to the other big place on Washington, so for me this is the most convenient place. (Beer barn was only a few blocks away too...)

What's the Red Hook bar name? I'm gong to have to go there and yell. Too bad they didn't sell off the beer in stock to me.

I forget the bar's name but if I remember correctly it's at Columbia St & Rapelye, just north of the tunnel toll plaza

A brick building with an awning on a short block of 3 storefronts
It's an IRISH theme

yeah fisher's does always have good beer in stock. surprisingly enough, the pioneer on Franklin and Union (which i believe is operated by the fisher's folks) often has a rotating cast of micro-beers.

Truthfully, I wasn't surprised to see them close—their craft-beer supply was always meager, at best, and they kept their beer in the sun. That's a big no-no.

Love me some Brooklyn Beer and Soda at 648 Washington Avenue—craft-beer growlers and dirt-cheap beer, oh my.

I'm not making a correlation. But look, I went there multiple times, and each time I was underwhelmed by their craft-beer selection and storage of their beer. I'm just saying that they lost a potential repeat customer.
