Daily Slope Members wishing to debate the Middle East conflict or discuss websites’ vulnerability to hackers with political agendas, should do so openly and clearly.
Just throwing this link up without any background information for those of us unfamiliar with this hacker is confusing. There’s no value to visiting this link without any explanation.
It’s also inconsiderate to not warn the reader that the link contains disturbing images. It’s hard for weaker-stomach readers to scroll past the bloody images to get to the text.

I'm not quite sure that is your call, but I don't really see any debate going on here in any case.

One strange thing about this guy is that he seems to be opposed to Al Qaeda, which doesn't make much sense to me. You'd think their message would resonate with him, but he says that Al Qaeda is really a front for Jews and Americans. Hmmmmm, I don't get it.
Kind of reminds me of neo-nazis denying the holocaust. If they love naziism so much, why do they hate the holocaust? Or if they think the holocaust was a bad thing, then what's the appeal of naziism?
I wonder if there are socialists who believe that Castro and Chavez are really capitalist agents whose sole purpose is to make socialism look bad?

I agree. It certainly isn't mandatory, but it is good netiquette.

Completely off topic, but a favorite story.
Several years ago on X-mas eve, myself and another friend of the hebrew persuasion were walking towards 2nd Avenue Deli and a Chinese couple stopped us and asked us where the Deli was. It took all my restraint not to incredously say back to the guy , "We're supposed to be going to your restaurant tonight?!?"

You're right, it's not my call, unless I happen to be God and then what I say goes, Sweet Brooklyn Crab.
Call me a confused wuss, but I had no idea what the heck was going on when I clicked on that link.
Is there a debate? I don’t know. What’s the story behind the HunanDelight Hacker? I have no idea.
I confess, I was shocked and confused when I clicked on the link. Perhaps I lack a few brain cells and should be shot for requesting spoon-feeding. I had no idea why Isa put the link on this website and, because the images were of bloody children, I didn't have the stomach to read the accompanying text.
Then again, why am I obsessing about images of bloody children on this MockHunanDelight website when the New York Times opening page often contains the same?

You know what? I didn't even read the site, not debating anything. I don't know anything about the guy or his agenda, the value of the post was just in noting that the site was hacked. And what great value it was. I'm sure that everyone feels awesome because they can tell their friends and neighbors that the Hunan Delight site was hacked and they'll have to use menupages.com for all their sesame cold noodle needs.
I added a disclaimer on my original post.

Do you think Hunan Delight knows? If not, should we let them know?

Man - they're slow in fixing the page, especially since the hacker said they just changed the index.html file. That's like a 1 min fix...

Wow, still hacked
anyone know what their phone number is? I think some of us should give them a call. Clearly they're not doing too much to fix this...

They probably hired someone to do their site and have no idea how to fix it themselves.
If anyone here feels strongly about it, maybe you should give them a call and offer up your 1337 skilz toward fixing the site (pro bono of course).

If you charge them for this, then you're letting the terrorists win!

ROTFLOL!
I don't do so much web development anymore so I'm only letting the terrorists win passively this time round.

If one were to, say, demand free Moo-Shu Mock Pork for a week, you'd become the immediate top suspect in the hacking. Pro-bono is the only choice.

wmlevin, if you're offended by any aspect of the cartoon, why is their link in your signature? _________________ what would you tell me, if i could hear you speaking?--t.r.

To be fair, isn't it equally offensive toward Jews? Yarmulke-wearing big-nosed sidelock-sporting black coat fellow too cheap to pay for his food?
But let's not turn this thread into another racism discussion ...
After looking here: http://shabot6000.com/about.php and realizing you're the author, I can see why you're being defensive about it, but try to look at it objectively. The Jewish character is clearly the protagonist in the cartoon, and the Chinese character is the butt of his joke.

Interestingly, TV Funhouse seems to get away just fine with stereotypes: Asian waiter with slanty eyes, black woman with broad nose and full lips, Jews with glasses and longer noses, even a gentile mom with a goyish little upturned nose.
Mod note: I'm sorry, but I unintentionally hit the moderator's "edit" button instead of the "quote" button and changed your post. I lost the original post, although I think I only cut out the part where you quoted me. This was totally my goof, and I apologize. Please repost you comment!

You know what the cartoon remind me of, Christian rock. It had the same sort of cloying quality to it. It seems like whenever religion tries to artifically appropriate hipness this happens. Art criticism is not my thing thoguh so please don't take offense.
As for if it's offensive, someone else pointed out that the chinese (or as you disingenously intimated, Asian) guy was offensive. I like ethnic jokes so I'm cool with it, but it is very stereotypical. I'm not surprised by the reaction you're getting to it, or for that matter to your reactions.
Shalom Brother.

Those aren't really offensive stereotypes though are they? One could also say that its a steretype to portray a black person with brown skin when in fact lots of American Black people are more beige or even white-skinned (like Colin Powell). Yet, typically black people do have brown skin and fuller lips. And I have actually met a lot of Jewish people with big noses. There is a fine line here between "stereotype" and "common characteristics" _________________ www.preciouswilliams.com

Yeah, this is kind of what I was thinking. It's one thing to have subtle features that identify a character as being of a certain race, but the kind of gross stereotype in the Shabbot 6000 cartoon is another thing entirely.

I don’t understand why in today's American culture a person with an ounce of African ancestry – who might have numerous “white†European ancestors – is called "black" by "black" and "white" people alike, even if the “bi-racial†person has very pale skin. How pale does your skin have to be to be labeled “white
