I went to pick up my niece and on the way back decided to take Myrtle Ave which I rarely do. I noticed several people going into what looked like a bar and actually was a bar and restaurant called Sans Souci. We both went to check it out and lo and behold a new Caribbean restaurant has opened at 330 Myrtle Ave. The decor is beautiful with several flat screen tvs and great music as well. I love the ambience. Has anyone eaten there? How is the food? This is a nice sitdown restaurant . Will have to give it a try.

Just back from dinner at Sans Souci. I had island stew chicken (brown stew chicken) and my friend (of Jamaican origins) had curried goat; each entree came with sauteed cabbage, a large mound of rice and peas (kidney beans) and sweet plantains. We both thought the food was very good and would go back again. Service was friendly and they did their best, and the decor is basic but pleasant. My only real complaint was that we ate in the back and there was a very strong odor of air freshener, like the kind that automatically dispenses into a room every few minutes. That was awful, not something you want to smell in a restaurant. Frankly, I thought the front of the house didn't smell too great either, and the music was a bit loud. But the chef, Basil Jones, came out to greet us and introduce himself and that was a welcome (and appropriate) touch. Will definitely try it again, and do recommend it.
