Soooo on the way to the 3 train this morning, i noticed some boards has been taken down on the corner of lincoln place and kingston ave and its a beautiful looking NEW RESTAURANT! YAY!
Anyone know the scoop?? Cuisine? Name? I'm dying to know....---north crown heights has been STARVING for such an amenity!
Totally excited! I passed by there this morning and spoke to one of the owners. The place is called Basil. They are due to open in about 2 weeks and the menu is FANTASTIC. They had a couple of promo menus available and he handed me one. This place is going to be different and edgy. I can't wait!!!!!! There is a website on the menu www.basilny.com

pro tip: when shilling your/your friend's website, wait until it has more than a splash page. _________________ Bumping ancient threads with bot-like bullshit

I walked by today, the place looks really nice. If the food is good it will be a great addition to the neighborhood.

went there yesterday
the good
-gorgeous decor
-blocks from my house
-delicious coffee
-reasonably priced menu
the shady
-the service is pretty suspect...the exec chef at one point had to come out and yell at a waiter to bring a party of seven a bottle of wine (they'd been waiting for over 10 minutes)
-i asked for a spoon for my coffee and never got it (i'm not jewish)
-they didn't pepper shakers/grinders..they brought my friend some pepper in a bowl
-they were out of sugar (for coffee)
- the hostess only talked to the Hasidic guests..but that could be b/c she knows them personally
i really enjoyed the cup of coffee at the place..i might wait until they hire more waitstaff and stock up on the basics b4 returning for an actual meal

agreed w/Clayfilms.
i'm willing to go back and give them another try. hopefully time will iron out the wrinkles in service and hospitality.
