Heavy water surges throught the city sewer system caused by this morning's downpours led to the dislodging of a manhole cover.

Located at the corner of Prospect and Underhill Avenues, the open manhole is now blocked by two city garbage pails.

Drivers, parents and caretakers should be aware of this danger so close to the children's park.

Maybe it's the heat but I have noticed so much rudeness on the part of people in this area. Stepping on my feet, bumping into me and not saying anything, jumping in front of me on a line. WTF?

If you are familiar with the field of criminology, you probably won't find anything particularly surprising in here.....

Pulled this off of Fido Site.

Hopefully this dog gets the Vet care he needs and finds himself a forever home.

I can't help but wonder if the fact that the Googa (whatever!) thing in the Park prompted His capture this weekend. We wouldn't want crowds of people eating gobs of food being disturbed by a wild dog, would we?

Prospect Park Mastiff Boy brought in....

Brooklyn, who has lived in Prospect Park for almost three years was finally brought in by Sean Casey this week - he was limping and probably needed medical attention. Once he's checked out, hopefully, he'll make someone a fine companion.

      Hi
I am looking for an apartment for June 1st, I might be subletting from someone but it is not 100% sure yet, and I do not mind having roommates.
I do have two small dogs and I am having issues finding a place that allows dogs. I am quiet and so are my dogs, no barking.
      Any information will be appreciated.

The Brooklyn Comets, a girls' AAU basketball program under the umbrella of the 78th Precinct Youth Council in Brooklyn, is expanding to include 5th graders this season.

Open practices are being held throughout May on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 7-9pm at the West Brooklyn Community High School, located at 41st St. and Ft. Hamilton Parkway.
The Brooklyn Comets program supports motivated girls interested in developing stronger individual and team basketball skills, while gaining leadership and team experience. We look to build mastery through team oriented practice, individual skill development, conditioning and game competition.

Parents and girls interested in getting more information on The Brooklyn Comets can go online at http://www.78pyc.org.

I'm moving into a a parlor-level apartment in Park Slope and need to hire a couple of people to unload a 16-foot moving truck.

The anticipated date is Sunday, May 27, probably in the afternoon.

I expect it would take 2 people an hour or two. There isn't much furniture -- mostly boxes.

Does anyone have any recommendations for people in the neighborhood who might be available?

      Thanks!

There have been threads on this in the past but none of the suggestions have quite worked out for me. Just checking to see if anyone has new recommendations for an acupuncturist in walking distance in PH.
      Thanks!

      Could be.....

Nosy people may have noticed that the long dormant site of Sunshine Grocery (located at 780 Washington, at the NE corner of Washington and Sterling) is being renovated.

One then realizes that an LLC "780 Washington Ave" was recently created.
      http://legal-notice.org/llc-notice/ny/kings/2012/780-washington-llc

One then googles the legal address of the LLC, 620 Vanderbilt Ave.

One then realizes that is the address of Milk Bar. A thriving, nearby cafe.

One then looks into the window to watch the construction workers and says "whoa, it does look like they could be building a mid size restaurant".

Friends of Underhill needs your help sprucing up our playground for Spring and Summer. Join us on It's My Park Day, this Saturday, May 19th from 10am to 1pm. We will be weeding the planting beds, cleaning, tossing old toys and caring for the street tree beds around the perimeter of the Park. The Parks Department and Prospect Heights Street Tree Task Force will be lending some tools, but if you have gloves or extra gardening tools, please bring them!

We hope to have some special guests for arts & crafts and games for the kids.
There will be some refreshments too, but please bring your reusable water bottles so that we can minimize the amount of trash we send to the landfill!

WHAT: It's My Park Day Volunteer Clean Up

WHERE: Underhill Playground, on Underhill Avenue between Prospect and Park Place in Prospect Heights

Former President Jimmy Carter was recently quoted as saying that the Democratic Party has been hurt at the polls for its vehement pro-choice views on abortion.
The issue hurts the Party with liberal Catholics and Latino voters who otherwise may vote Democratic. President Carter also, concluded that he "Could never believe that Jesus Christ would support abortion."
The Democratic Platform currently contains language to allow taxpayer funding of abortion. National polls have consistently demonstrated that most Americans do not support the government paying for abortion. In fact, a February 2012 Quinnipiac University poll (national sample of 2,605 registered voters, margin of error
±1.9 percentage points) found that nearly thirty percent of Americans would not vote for a candidate with whom they disagreed on abortion but agreed on other issues. The Democratic Platform language should be inclusive and endorse the views of all Democrats.
This will resurrect the Blue Dog Democrat in the South and Southwest enabling us to have a solid majority in the Congress. Remember, it was the Democratic Party that gave us Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and a living wage...

Please support the Democrats For Life of America by signing the petition below
