Alternate Side Parking

So, the suspension of alternate side parking in Red Hook went in to effect today. However, someone forgot to let the brilliant minds at the 76th precinct know, and they issued a bunch of parking tickets this morning. Bureuacracy at work, folks!

Building on Dikeman and Van Brunt

Does anyone know about the boarded-up red building on the corner of Dikeman and Van Brunt? Is there someone I can contact about finding out the history of the building? Who owns it now and if there are any plans for it? There's a picture of it on this page from Forgotten New York (a little more than halfway down). Looks like the picture was taken in 2004, and nothing has happened with it since. Thanks for your help!

Last night 8/10 at around 7:30pm...5-6 ambulances, police all over, including the dudes with machine guns.

Rental Spaces for event

I'm in search of a space in Brooklyn which would be appropriate for an event with about 100 or less people. Does anyone have any suggestion?? Preferably not a restaurant or someplace with a caterer already attached to it. A view would be ideal, but not necessary.
