queen_of_piesthe place is run by a neighborhood guy named Desmond. He's very professional and gives a good, thorough eye exam. The shop doesn't have a vast array of frame styles but you'll probably find something you like. definitely recommended. -

How can you have faith in anything controlled by an Apple ][ in the year 2005?
-
anonymousMy whole family gets their glasses there (4 of us all wear glasses) and they are fine. -
boatyOk, I will give this Desmond fellow a try and share my verdict this week...... -
ana.logi walked in there with a prescription already and bought a pair of glasses. they were very nice and even let me order a frame color they didn't have in stock even though i wasn't sure i would like it. they were also gracious when i opted for the color they DID have in stock.
i'd go back. -

I went there for the first time today and I must give them kudos for professionalism and thoroughness. The eye doctor is first rate and he takes the time to educate you about your eyes - he even gave me a picture of the xrays, of sorts, of my eyes - pretty cool!

The selection of frames is not that bad either. They carry the Swissflex brand which are pretty great.
As fas as prices for someone who does not have insurance - I think a thorough eye examination will run you around $150.
In a nutshell - this place gets my high recommendation. -

LOL - no kisses - but I have to admit he was easy on the eyes - a cute doctor

ph_dreaminbumping this up to ask... is this place still there & still good? all I need is to update my glasses prescription (not looking for new frames) and would love to have a place so close to home! -

In case this seems out of context now (it's been a long time):boaty wrote: [quote=Axel Foley]I would like a dentist that "caters to cowards," but the only one I can find is in Crown Heights. Good thing I technically live there!
The best dentist in the world is in Clinton Hills - Dr. Charles Grannum - and I am the biggest chicken in the world when it comes to dentists! The guy actually kisses you on the forehead before and after he sticks the needle in - I will never go to another dentist. Pain free - tough to get an appt though! -
jack krohnThat place moved about a month or two ago. I believe they are now located on St. Mark's or Prospect, between Carlton and Vanderbilt. -
ph_dreaminthanks - I will look for them. -
sushipantsHe's moved to Prospect Place, about 6 or 7 houses south of Vanderbilt. Bottom floor of a brownstone. He's a really nice fellow. -
sushipantsOh, and by "south", I mean "I have absolutely no idea what direction I'm ever facing in Brooklyn." Betw. Vand. and Carlton. -

The Dr and his staff are all great. I went based on the reviews here and was very pleased with the service for my eye exam and glasses. -
lp1378I can also vouch that they're friendly and do a good job. I went there with a prescription and got a nice pair of glasses. I think the woman who works there is extra fine by the way. Let's just say Sir Mix-A-Lot would approve. :-) (god i hope they don't read these boards, lol) -
underthehillI used them and I can vouch for them too, Desmond is extremely professional and thorough, and Josef is very friendly and helping in choose frames, colors, lenses, etc... -
leozoeypiperI went there today and they were great! Very professional and thorough. I highly recommend going to Dr. Parkin for your optical needs.
