edited November -1 in Prospect Heights
I am thinking of moving to PH/CH (on Prospect Pl, East pf Washington). Am hearing some people say it isn't safe. I have loved the area when visiting, but was hoping to get the scoop from locals. Any info would be helpful. Many thanks!

it's perfectly safe. it's not manhattan, mind you -- you wouldn't walk around at 3am feeling fine, but you won't get murdered. really.

just lock you doors because people are getting shot on crazy lane every hour of the day and kids will sell you drugs in the hallways of your building. we choose to live here because we like to live in fear of people and we have lots of locks for the doors to keep the bullets out. if you don't buy drugs from the kids in the hallway you will get beaten up or egged or something and they will call you a snitch and you will have to move back to oklahoma.

    lock you doors.

Hey, guys, that was a valid question!

    Yes, I feel reasonably safe.

Although I was accosted recently by a strange older upper-middle-class-looking white lady wandering suspiciously around the corner of Park and Underhill peering about, who grabbed my arm and started interrogating me about whether I felt safe in the neighborhood. I wanted to tell her "Uh yeah, I did...until I met YOU!"

Wow, that is funny. Rest assured, it was not me. I restric my accosting to online message boards.
