Not sure where we were, but walking back toward Washington Avenue from the Starlite Lounge Saturday night, we passed a few either illegal or unmarked bars/clubs in CH. they looked really hopping -- good music, people spilling out the doors. anyone have any info on these places? would they be open to any mixed groups (as in racially mixed) showing up? just wondering. :)

I thought those were mostly private parties and baby shows, which by the way was the most bumpin baby shower I have ever seen.

i've seen a few in my years here, but i haven't ventured inside because my cautious nature takes over. there's something SO incredibly dodgy about them. there used to be one on the west side of nostrand, maybe between st. johns and sterling. it had a lightshow and everything, it was in a gutted out space i think. but i believe its been renovated into apartments.

I like your thinking nybt. I think we should hit it up. Olivia is the one to go with, everyone loves her. She attracts the topless dancing gay men and gets strong drinks from the bi-curious promoters with gold teeth.

I'm not sure, I think Bedford. The one with the awning or one of the secret ones?

I don't think it had an awning, it was just red. like painted red around the corner and doorway.

I also put unmarked in the title. it's hard to tell if something that could be legit is totally lacking in signage whether it is legal or not. sorta like the bar or club or whatever it is next door to ripple that causes a good portion of the noise and rowdiness on Washington when it's open.
but yeah, we also walked by parties that were obviously in people's homes, but everyone was outside drinking, taking up big chunks of sidewalk.

Have you called 311 about the noise :?: If not you should so that its logged. After that you should call the community affairs officers in the precinct to follow up on it.

I've seen a LOT of fights spill out of that place.

What about this place on Washington betwn St Marks and Bergen?

The one that looks like a miniature airplane hangar. Throughout the summer that place would heat up.

I walked by once and asked an unassuming patron what the story was. He invited me to pass through the chain link fence for a beer. Too often the vibes from that place weren't very friendly though - lots of yelling, without enough laughter inter-mixed.

    I took a rain check.
