Street Digging / Car Moving

On Monday, I parked my car on Park between Grand and Classon. When I returned today, all of the cars were gone and they were digging up the street. Now I spent the last year in Boston where it is common practice to put up a "no parking" sign at 11pm and ticket/tow everyone at 7am the next morning. So, I figured my car would be in the joy that is the Navy Yard. However, my car didn't show up as towed on nyc.gov/finance. So, as directed by the site, I called the 77th. They had no idea where my car was and told me to ask the construction folks. It turns out the construction folks had a list of where they'd moved each car and mine was less than a block away. Anyway, hopefully my tale of ignoring the obvious will save someone else time in a similar situation. Also, there was a piece of paper on my car which says, in essence, "we moved this vehicle for construction; please don't ticket it." I think I'm just going to leave that on my windshield all of the time.
