    Subject: Hello Daily Heights

    Hello Daily Heights,

I am sort of new to this site...well I have posted comments a few times as guess, but never got involved deeply. Now I will find time to brows and contribute to the community. I thinks this is a great forum to discuss issues affecting Prospect Heights. Hats off to the persons who came up with this idea .

It appears to have been Chairman Mao's and his people's doing: the Brooklyn Branch of the Cultural Revolution.

As I am not privvy to all the facts and details of said event(s), it would be quite irresponsible for me to go much futher into it. Particularly, of course, with a Guest. 8)

I don't know why I am still a guest. I registered my username. Maybe I didn't register correctly...help. In any event, I am interested to know when and how this forum came into being and who are the people behind it. I think for those members who don't know the history of this site would want to know.

The site was started as a blog by a guy called Andy, who posts here under the name "dailyheights" (obviously). Later he added this messageboard, which became very popular, and which I and a guy called daveb offered to help moderate. Later he added messageboards for other neighborhoods, and recently he started a second blog called Dailyslope. We get together on Wednesday nights at Soda. That's about all there is to it! But you might want to do a search for "carneviento" and "brownstone billiards" to get some of the in-jokes.

BTW, you probably did register, but you haven't signed in yet...click on Log in near the top and log in using your username and password...right now it looks like you're just entering your username without the password every time you post. That's why people think you're a guest. We've had some problems with guests around here, so people get suspicious.

I think that's actually Kim Jong Il (current leader of North Korea).

Thanks for explaning the registration process. Thanks also for the brief history of Dailyheights...good work. Now that I am "in," is it mandatory to come to Soda and what can I expect there? Will there be a red carpet?

The red carpet is for me and me alone, don't ever forget that.

No, you are not required to come to any DH events, but are certainly invited.

DH events go something like this...

From 6:30 to about 8, there's a bunch of people drinking and children running around.

After about 8, there's a lot of drinking resulting in me being more than sotted. Board games occasionally happen, but for the most part, it's all a bunch snarky, alcoholic assholes yelling at each other. It rules.

Discussion for this Weds. can be found here.
