DeKalb across from Pratt

I am considering moving into a place on DeKalb right across from Pratt. I plan to do plenty of walking around the area myself to get a feel for it, but what are people's general thoughts on that area? Convenient (other than the G train)? Safe? It seemed pretty empty when I was there one recent night.

i've only been living around here for two months but i've been coming around for years to hang with friends, and i love the area. Yea the G sucks, that's common knowledge. But the 38 bus runs down DeKalb right into downtown where you can catch plenty of trains. It's also not a terrible walk to the DeKalb Q/B/R/M station, I walk there every morning. Also the 54 bus up on Myrtle goes right to the Jay St station. At night it can be a little desolate and quiet, but that's not a bad thing. DeKalb has tons of restaurants and bars and Myrtle has it's fair share also.

I lived on Dekalb between Washington & Waverly for a few years. My studio faced Dekalb and the traffic was loud as hell. Also, Dekalb is feral cat kill zone.
