Restaurant Recommendations near BAM?

Hello everyone! I wanted to meet a friend of mine this weekend for brunch or lunch before he goes to a matinee show at BAM.

Anyone know of any good places to eat around there? It doesn't have to be cheap, but I'd love it if it weren't expensive.

Thanks!

Thomas Beisl, which is directly across the street, is excellent. Highly recommend the french toast (if you want something sweet) or the eggs Benedict or the beef hash (if you want something savory) for brunch. Also really like the cod schnitzel and the trout palatschinken -- delicious stuff.

No connection to the restaurant, just think it's woefully overlooked, despite its location.

Little Piggy Market (sister restaurant to the Smoke Joint) on Lafayette and South Elliot is a great option for sandwiches, soups, salads and small dessert items. I think they open at noon...

There's a whole bunch of good restaurants new BAM. I kinda like Scopello's and there's a wine bar a block down lafayette - I'm having a senior moment, can't remember the name - that's really good, River something or other, no no, stonehome bar. I really like the Sangria at Epoca, good waitstaff there. You pretty much can't go wrong (except for the smokehouse - ich)

Try the Green Apple cafe on DeKalb for brunch. Small and informal but always yummy, and a good bang for your buck.

I've enjoyed the Stonehome Wine Bar on Lafayette after shows at BAM.

I have to say that I've tried Scopello's a couple of times, wanted to like it, but found it to be very mediocre to bad food. Maybe it's changed.

Thomas Beisl across the street from BAM is great Austrian food. Or, if you have enough time, walk over to DeKalb Avenue - there are several good places between Carlton and Vanderbilt (Ici is my top choice there, followed by Lu Lu, Madiba's fun, Chez Oscar is consistent...)

I just tried the burger place on Lafayette near Fulton last night before going to BAM and really liked it. Good stuff.

Hello everyone! I meant to come on here sooner and thank you all for your responses.

We ended up going to Thomas Beisl and really liked it. I had the roast beef hash with creamed spinach. MAN, was it dee-lish.

this reminds me. A few months ago I past this place by BAM and it looked very good.
I dont remember the name of it, does anyone know.
It is on the NE corner of Lafayette & S Elliot. Seemed like a bar/rest combo with pasta, steaks etc..

Mullane's is pretty good. Nice place to hang out when the weather's nice and you can sit outside.
