City Room did an update on the ConEd stray voltage situation last week. Con Ed say incidents are way down (great, they haven't killed any people in a few years)

When it's snowy and the roads are salted, this problem rears its ugly head. Either the salt eats through the wires or the standing water is hyper conductive or both. (I don't really know the particulars.) Last year there were a few hot spots effected around 4th Ave near 3rd St in PS talked about on this board. Someone's dog was electrocuted.

Just a seasonal reminder to watch out, and perhaps keep your dog away from utility covers and metal plates.
