Here's a little bit of Saturday newspaper reading...

A New York appellate court ruled Friday that valid out-of-state marriages of same-sex couples must be legally recognized in New York, just as the law recognizes those of heterosexual couples solemnized elsewhere. Lawyers for both sides said the ruling applied to all public and private employers in the state

    D'you reckon they would they also have to accept marriages from other countries that perform same-sex marriage?

    How about countries like Holland where you can apparently get a single-sex marriage?

    This could be really good for tax purposes; an invdividual married to him/herself could file as married-filing-jointly, which is not different in Northern Europe but very different here.

    Considering that case was ruled about a couple married in Canada, seeking recognition of that marriage in NY . . . yeah.

    I'd imagine getting *married* to yourself is a different legal construction altogether.
