i am looking for some gooooood mexican vanilla extract. i've tried italian, madagascar, tahitian, etc., but my favorite is mexican. anyone know where i can locate some in brooklyn, preferably either in/near the slope, or near mass transit (i'm in a cast and walking with a cane, so my traveling capabilities are limited right now)?

i can't guarantee it's mexican, but the nice deli at 12th and 8th ave has some real vanilla that's not a major grocery store brand.

Not in the Slope, but you can get your friendly postman to bring you some by ordering at cubanfoodmarket.com.

I think it takes a couple of months to make an extraction...
    you got time Shish?

p.s. hope you are healing well and have fun and appropriate pain meds

I'd call Union Market and ask. They tend to carry high end gear.

Penzey's is the best. Once you have used their spices, grocery store spices will never suffice. Once you get mobile, they have a kiosk at Grand Central in the MarketPlace.
