Subject: Old Photo's Wanted of Marine Park, Flatlands area

Does anyone out there posess any old photo's from the 60's, of the Marine Park area of Brooklyn? I am especially looking for photo's of Marine Park, the Kings Plaza area, the old miniature golf course that used to be on Flatbush, and also Wesson's-remember them? Way before McDonalds or Burger king came to Brooklyn, there was Wesson's.
If you can help me out, I would appreciate it, or even purchase these photo's from you.

    Have you checked out http://brooklynpix.com?

I didn't see Marine Park in the menu at left there, but they do have 2 pages worth of Flatlands pictures from various years.

    Have a look:

    Flatlands Photos, Page 1

    Flatlands Photos, Page 2

Also check out the Forgotten NY web site.

Their "Neighborhoods" section does not list Marine Park or Flatlands, but if you search Google a bit, you come up with mention of these neighborhoods throughout various pages on the site:

Pages mentioning Marine Park on Forgotten NY site

Pages mentioning Flatlands on Forgotten NY site

    Good luck...

Thank you for your reply, it was most appreciated.
I do "frequent" Brooklynpix.com, and have already purchased that particular book ("Flatlands Beyond The Field"").
    It is a great book.
The other links you provided had some nice photo's on them, and I am still going through them, so THANKS!

I would go directly to the source. Tape some flyers on to some lamp posts in Marine Park & Flatlands as well as leaving them in some home mail boxes. Marine Park, Flatlands, Gerritsen, etc, are some of the few neighborhoods left in NYC where blood lines can go back at least 50 years. You can alos check with DOB for historical block and lot photos as well as the Brooklyn Historical Society.

The Brooklyn Historical might be able to help you by phone. They tracked down some old flags of Brooklyn (when it was six cities) for me.

    www.brooklynhistory.org 718 222 4111.

You might want to post a ad in the local Marine Park supermarket papers, whatever they may be.
