Massive flooding, rug soaked with water, cleaners, and some sort of black muck. Anyone know where we can rent a rug cleaning machine near GAP on a Sunday?

Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the tip.

We zipcarred over and got a rug doctor. Unfortunately, the rug was too far gone to be saved. At least we picked up some groceries and things at Lowe's while we had the car and cleaned another rug (one that was not affected by the water and black muck flood of 2008).

The pathmark on 12th has several and they have two sizes. We got the smaller one. The rentals are 24 hours and that plus some cleaner and tax was about $37 for anyone looking.

FYI we rent ours from the Key Food on 5th Ave. I know they deliver food Im not sure if they would deliver the cleaner.

A word of advice - check to make sure the machine is clean before using it. I rented a carpet cleaner from the Key Food on 7th, and they hadn't cleaned it after the previous rental. Unfortunately, that guy had used it to clean his lawn or some G.D. thing and it spewed a bunch of dirt and debris all over my carpet when I cranked it up. Then I said a lot of bad words.

So our efforts didn't do much for the rug so we put it outside where it stayed for 24+ hours before the landlord had someone drag it back into the lobby! It rained during that time and I wouldn't be surprised if a few animals left their mark on it.

Instead of replacing it, they are insisting on having it professionally cleaned. I've never had carpets or a rug worth cleaning before. Can someone explain it to me.

Do they clean it at your house or haul it away? Can you suggest anyone for this service that you had a good experience with?

    Thanks!
