where can i cash in my coins?

does anyone know of one of those "we charge 8 cents on the dollar to exchange bills for coins" machines in the area? the bank makes you roll them up, and i'm too lazy. i need one of those machines where you dump a big jar into the thing and it counts the coins for you...

wow, i never realized that you don't need an acct. to utilize this service. i've been using Coinstar, which takes 8%. thanks for the tip!

definitely do not need an account at commerce to use this service.

it's one of their gimmicks.

i believe that commerce has 2 coin machines at that 5th ave location, and all you do it take your receipt up to a teller after.

Commerce Bank on 5th Avenue and 1st Street has 2 coin counting machines and they are free. And, no, you don't have to have any account with them to use them. I go there all the time.

There's a Coinstar machine at Key Foods on Fifth. If you get your money in a voucher (I like amazon.com) you don't get charged for anything.

Why on earth would anyone pay 8% to count coins? That is not a good use of your change.

I'd just like to take a moment to say that in general, Commerce pretty much rules. They're open on Sundays and holidays (except Xmas and Thanksgiving), they are open later than most banks during the week, AND I've had nothing but great experiences in terms of customer service.

You can even use a Commerce card at other banks and ATMs and they don't charge you. Also, I used it during my trip to Portugal to withdraw Euros and I did not get charged any foreign transaction fees.

^seriously? I'm starting to hate citi in a big way because when I need an ATM they're never ever around...you've had good experiences with commerce? Do you do all your banking there?

i do all my banking at commerce and they are definitely a cut above the rest.

i believe if you keep a minimum balance of maybe 1500, you get reimbursed for non-commerce atms. the checking account is free and easy, the already discussed coin machines are great, and as someone said, they have terrific hours, open both saturday and sunday, i believe.

the one up near my work is open till 8pm M-Th and MIDNIGHT on fridays!

for a bank, they aren't half bad.

my big thing is the atm fees, aside from that citi has been decent (not great) maybe I'll open a second checking acct at commerce for just atm usage...

If you elect to get cash, they have a $50 cutoff, but they'll take more than one slip at a time. If you have more than $50 in change, be sure to split it up.
