Churches?

I am pining to go back to church. Here is my quandary though.

As an adult, i found God and became a Catholic (I was raised nothing as a child). i joined a local Catholic church where I was baptized and received all the sacraments. i became extremely involved in said church, becoming a Eucharistic Minister, teaching CCD classes and even helping out with children's church at Sunday mass. This is my nature, i am a joiner and love being a part of things-especially spiritual. As things started coming out more and more about the Catholic church in general (not the one I was going to, which was great), i decided I could no longer attend a church that was governed or overseen by the people who had done nothing during all the molestation travesties.

So, i stopped participating in and going to my church. Over the last few years, I have gone to other churches in the neighborhood and have just not found any that are for me (I have tried different denominations, etc.).

I was hoping there might be some suggestions from others on the board here of a good local Christian church that has uplifting services, good sermons (i attended one church for a while where everybody was very nice and friendly and the pastor was a sweet guy, but his sermons did nothing for me) and lots of things for me to get involved in (one with a bible study would be nice).

I am in my early 40s, have children and am married, though, my husband would not be participating in or attending church with me (he is an agnostic).

Hit me with your best ideas!

Why do you link to a Craigslist ad for an administrative assistant?

Right, gotcha. Well, I have been meaning to try the Episcopalian church on 7th and 7th.......... maybe we could join forces and write a Zagat guide to Park Slope Protestant churches!

I have always thought about that one-I have been inside it and it is gorgeous. maybe we can check it out together.

I have also always wondered about the church on St. john's, I think it's called St. john's Episcopal Church?

if you are interested in traveling outside of PS and over to Windsor Terrace, the Church of the Holy Apostles (which is located at the Greenwood Avenue end of the Fort Hamilton Pkwy F-train exit) is a lovely episcopal congregation in a small, pretty church. from one No-Longer-Catholic to another, i felt a connection to this place.

Thanks, it looks like a lovely place, but, not exactly what I am looking for in a church.

Impossible. Hell hasn't frozen over and there have been no reports of severe lightening strikes in the area.

Guess a devil evil face would be inappropriaete in this thread so I am going to ignore LeBeavil.

SweetTea, for me the music is really familiar. Contemporary mixed with hymns from the book (meh). I really enjoy it.

Although can I just say that going to church on Easter and Christmas alone is kind of like going out dancing on New Year's Eve. I try to avoid all of the above.
