Encuentro Spanish-Tex Mex

I walk past this restaurant frequently and have rarely seen anyone in it. It seems to be in an awkward location.

My daughter and her boyfriend decided to try it out tonight and they loved it. Importantly to her, they had hard shell tacos. The tacos only come in combo dishes with Enchilada's and Burritos.

Anyone else tried this place?

Haven't been there since the recent remodeling (gonna miss the indoor neon, but we see that the jukebox is still there), but we've been going there for years. Nothing beats it when you're craving carnitas and fried platanos--we'll check out the new menu; no tacos last time we went.

That place has been there many, many, many years! i don't know if I would call it "tex-mex' though.

anyway=-good food, really cheap prices, big portions. We haven't been there since the remodel either-i don't remember tacos being on the menu before. Love the shrimps and rice!

No, El Encuentro is not Tex-Mex unless it has changed the menu recently. I've been going there almost 10 years and I believe it was always Dominican.

I'm glad to hear they only remodeled. I thought they had closed and I was very upset. I love their bistec empanizado with a huge plate of rice and beans. Yum!

yes, that is what they are! Dominican! We love the bistec too, and, their mango shakes are TDF!

I am actually quite surprised to hear about tacos and such on the menu. We were there in December and the manager/owner (not quite sure who he was) was talking to us about the renovation and even showed us the new menu because the prices were going to be higher. i don't remember seeing any of these things on there-but, again, haven't been since they re-opened. Guess I am going to have to go check it out tonight

Yes, they just added the Tex Mex to their menu! We noticed that the signs on the awning had changed and the clearly say "Spanish" and "Tex Mex".

I noticed in old reviews that the restaurant is considered to be Dominican. My daughters boyfriend is Dominican and he wasn't feeling it..

Went to Encuentro tonight for the first time since the reno. Wow! What a change! It looks totally different inside-for those who have been there before, you will be shocked.

Anyway, they have about 6 or 7 tex-mex things on the menu-everything else is the same. prices have gone up slightly, i would say about 50 cents per item. they have also applied for a liquor license.

I had a papaya shake made with real fresh papaya for $3 and a huge beef burrito for $6-this thing is gigantic and very good. Oh-they deliver now for a $10 minimum order.
