Park Slope Bike Shops

I am finally going to buy myself a bike (hybrid) for my birthday. Is it worthwhile to get one from one of the Park Slope area shops? My freind recommended a place in Bay Ridge but I would rather try a local place if possible. Thanks!

Go to Mike at Bicycle Station in prospect heights. Vanderbilt avenue between Bergen and Dean Streets, I think. Wonderful guy -- will set you up with everything you need at a reasonable price. Just a satisfied customer.....
