I am thinking of opening a little hummus and falafel spot. I am from the middle east where we perfect these dishes. I am looking for feedback. I was thinking some where on franklin bet e. p. and st. johns. What do you think?

yes, go for Franklin! (okay, so I'm biased, based on my location) I think you'd find a great mix of people here. Lots of families, young adults, who want a healthy fast meal. There are many open store fronts on Franklin that look pretty nice. I'm sure you'd find a good spot.

A Middle Eastern restaurant would be a welcome addition to Franklin Ave. Good Luck.

Not quite sure Franklin ave is ready for Falafels, you might have to add a few things to the menu.

Franklin is totally ready for Falafel, I think it will do really well. Having another option for good inexpensive food would be great in this area and I think there are plenty of people who will support it.

A real pizza parlor would also do well...

I think you might want to look into the former location of Island Village Cafe on Lincoln near Classon. I'm pretty sure it's for rent now and the kitchen should be in fairly good shape since they only lasted a year or so. As much as I liked them, I don't think they were ever able to compete with The Islands.

we are soooooooooooo ready for a yummy falafel! Maybe some nice mint tea too (so we don't have to schlepp all the way to Sahadi's). Please open something on Franklin, we want you!!!!

hey i am the falafel guy. i was speaking to the owner for fisher supermarket and he said that since he turned down many offers for a coffee shop next door to his store. but he liked the idea of a falafel spot. i have a appointment to speak to him tonight about lease terms(wish me luck). he said that the store will be available for june 08. if you were wondering its the little store between fishers and that vacant land on the parkway. if anyone wishes to help push the cause, i would appreciate the help.

That's great news. It would be really amazing if you could keep the place open a little late on Friday/Sat nights so that people could pick up a snack on the way home from the subway.

Another reason why Franklin's a good choice over Washington: Teddy's (a Greek restaurant) is already open there and they have pretty good falafel and such.

Not to mention that you'd be in competition with some of the Park Slope places whose delivery range extends to there, as well as Zaytoons on Vanderbilt. You're better off further over into Crown Heights (as much as it pains me to say that as a PH resident).

i think competition from zaytoon's will be tough - especially since they deliver in CH.

eh, zaytoon's has given me food poisoning twice. it is an issue with them. many of my friends have gotten sick from there.
