    They had good grinders.

They were open at weird hours tho and always seemed to be closed when I wanted pizza. I always ended up at Roma or Pizzatown.

Really? Hmm. I used to live around the corner and always ordered/went there. Good pizza, the guys were cool. Wonder if it was a rent issue.

Handy chart in case you find yourself in a strange land.

    Subject: Soda v. Pop

Back when I was younger -- during the LBJ administration, when I vacationed in New Hampshire, carbonated beverages were neither soda nor pop, they were "tonic." Even the vending machines referred to them that way.

Grinders is what ive always called those sandwiches. Is it a Boston thing? When I lived in the south everyone called them Heroes so I dont really look at that as a NYC thing.

People who say "tennis shoes" probably also call jeans "dungarees." It's just too horrible to contemplate.

Well, that is my fantasy world anyway. Reality is more like chafing clothes at an uncomfortable desk in Hackensack, NJ. So my fantasies are kind of mundane. Except for the tennies. Gotta go exotic on those bad boys.
