I desperately need a haircut. Can anyone recommend a barber shop in the Slope? Preferably North Slope.

Yes, I'm a guy. Disregard the avatar.

Thanks!

For hair like Ted Baxter, head to the one and only Park Slope Barber Shop, 7th Ave betw. 3rd and 4th. Get a musical education there, too.
For hair like Lou Grant or Murray Slaughter, head somewhere else. You won't need a barber.
And if you've got hair like Gordie the weatherman, try Prospect Heights!

Not sure what sort of haircut you want? you can go to the barber shop on 7th Avenue between 3rd and 4th Street-they are a pretty old school type barber shop. then there is the hip barber shop on 5th Avenue between 4th and 5th or 5th and 6th-but, that attracts a much younger crowd.

My husband used to get his hair cut at Joseph's on 7th Avenue and Union Street-not a barber shop-but, not a spa either-just a regular old hair stylist. i think he used to pay about $20 or $25 for a cut.

And what if I'm a guy who wants Mary's hair?

Then why would you say to disregard the avatar?

OK, if you want hair like Mary Richards, Sue Ann Nivens, Rhoda Morgenstern, Phyllis Lindstrom, and Georgette Baxter ... head on to Medusa on 7th or LeChandelier on 5th.

After a barber tried selling me hair gel and when I refused that a small bottle of whiskey, I went to a "unisex" salon on 7th called Joseph's. People were nice and hair is as good as it's ever gonna get, which is not that good....

I go the guys on 7th and 4th Street. Cheap and decent haircuts - only one major character flaw - they're all Yankee fans.

And you should see the spread of free booze they put out during the Christmas season! Weird concept, get your hair cut here and get loaded while you're at it!

I don't know about This...the combination of booze and razors is almost as scary as booze and strollers.

The Moroccan barber on 4th Avenue sounds like a good deal.

Christmastime at the Park Slope Barber Shop is always a fun time.

I actually love the place, and I'm fairly young guy with fairly un-Baxterish-looking hair. All four guys are solid. It's the only place you'll ever hear a discussion breaking out about Tony Bennett which ends in someone picking up the phone and actually CALLING Tony Bennett.
