From the St. Marks community garden site:

Membership in the Garden is available for a small annual fee, adjustable according to your ability to pay. Members assigned a plot for the year pay a higher fee, and agree to attend a minimum five out of eight Garden maintenance days to retain their plot privileges.

You can check it out here: http://wsmcg.typepad.com/garden/about.html

i think that must be for the garden between vandy and carlton.

i'm a member of the garden on st marks between vandy and underhill, called the prospect heights community farm. we don't charge a higher fee for a plot -- it's all sliding scale -- but we do have a long waiting list for plots. there are community areas where all members can plant, though, and i had a great time in the garden last season despite not having my own plot.

if you're interested in joining the list serve for our garden, which is the best way to find out when meetings are, get in touch with the coordinator, etc., PM me.

thanks for the replies. i'm on washington and sterling, so actually gardens close to this in the CH direction would be nice, too - any other leads?

i know there's one at st marks and bedford and one at franklin and E pkwy, but i don't know much about either one.

some gardens are easier to contact than others, but the best (if hardest) way to get involved -- at least at our garden -- is to show up at a meeting. we generally post meeting dates in the bulletin box on the fence. not sure about other gardens.
