Subject: food that's worth the trip

we're borrowing a zipcar to do various projects tomorrow, and since we'll have it all day, i'm thinking it would be nice to go to dinner somewhere that's not normally easy for us to get to (from CH, on public transit).

i'm thinking about maybe that thai place with the Sri- name (too lazy to look it up now) i keep hearing about, or maybe somewhere in BK chinatown....

do you folks have any suggestions?

Sriphipai (or something like that) is a great idea.

Mmmmmm Vietnamese Iced Coffee is perfect for projects...
You could have a Vietnamese sandwich for lunch, whilst you errand and project. 8th Ave near 42nd St in Sunset Park, Ba Xuyen.

Ali's Roti on Fulton is on my short list when I'm in a car.

Tanoreen in Bay Ridge is another one that's nice to have a ride to...if you feel like Middle Eastern instead of Thai. There's a pretty awesome Italian butcher/specialty store with great prepared food and Royal Crown bread over there -- 92nd St on 3rd Ave, Piazza Mercato. And a Greek store on 4th Ave at 87 or 88th...they often have some really interesting smoked fish hanging around the back, in a box on the counter.

If you've never been to Sripraphai, stop thinking about this now and just go there!

How about Peter Luger's Steakhouse? (if you're not vegitarian…) It may be the hardest-to-get-to famous restaurant in Brooklyn, and I've been meaning to visit for years. It on Broadway! Who knew there was a Broadway in Brooklyn?

Today we dined at a restaurant called Good Fork in Red Hook. I am glad we made the trek. OMG.....simply delicious. The halibut is sooo good and the vietnamese bbq ribs too.
