Subject: Where's your Favorite Sushi Place?
Did a search and can't find anything recent for your favorite sushi spot in the Slope. Anything with outdoors is a plus. Thanks all!
PS- Blue Ribbon is a given.

sweet teataro. no outdoors, barely in the slope, but you can't beat it. -
idlewildTaro. Beats Blue Ribbon by Godzilla rolls.. -
veetsMura.. becuse the Sushi is fine and I go often enough that the staff knows me.
Blue Ribbon because it is so expensive that I can't eat there often but the top notch staff treats everyone as an honored guest.
Can't find a thread on Sushi? Suprised. Park Slope people eat a lot of Sushi and it has been discussed a lot and recently. -

I tried- honest! I really hate creating new threads if it's already out there. Kinda desperate though, I have a friend in town who is a total pescatarian and LOVES her some sushi.

I found comments from like a year ago...but we all know how fast these places come and go.
I just remembered Yamato, 7th and Garfield. They have a really nice outdoors... -
new2hoodOshima, Oshima, Oshima. Some of the best pure sushi I've had. and a remodeled restaurant and backyard to boot.
They are so nice as well! -
rawI haven't ate at a sushi restaurant in Park Slope that I have not liked. They're all good and creative. I tend to prefer the sushi places on 5th Avenue opposed to 7th Avenue. However the lunch specials at Hanabi on 7th Avenue near Garfield are good. Kiku on 5th Avenue is good. Really can't think of a bad sushi joint. I got the wrong thing at Oshima once because of a language problem (waitress did not speak much English), but I still eat there. -
livetotravelTaro - no question 'bout it...

willregistersoonBlue Ribbon is expensive but they have a lot of interesting and different fish selection that you can't find elseware. Used to go to Geido all the time when I live in North slope. Great prices, good jazz music, good sushi. -
prezstno question: hanabi. the portions are big and the prices are reasonable. i've been going there for more than 20-yrs.. it's park slope's best kept secret. -
belzjmif you want a blue ribbon experience for half the price, definitely go to oshima.
i think in some ways, it is better than blue ribbon. the sushi is extremely fresh, the brand new renovated space is very sleek and the outdoor patio is perfect.
as someone who has tried many the best sushi places in manhattan...bond street, nobu, nobu57, neo, etc, i think oshima is right up there in quality of food. -
carnivoreHere's the classic thread on the subject:

Once I picked up a sashimi platter from the fish market on 7th Avenue between 1st and 5th Streeets -- the nice looking, narrow store with Asian products in the front and fresh fish in the back. There, I paid $15.00 for a sashimi platter of three different not so large cuts of fish and there was a limited selection and no side dishes were included.
Another day, I get a supper $10.00 sashimi lunch special at Hanabi that was crazy large and tasty. It included at least 3 if not 4 of my favorite fiish, dumplings (they let me pick), bowl of rice, salad, and soup. It was AWESOME. -

Not sure if Oshima has a similar menu to Blue Ribbon (I think Blue Ribbob has a larger menu), but Oshima sure is good.

fourthstreeterWe ate at Oshima last week based on recommendations on this board. We found it barely edible. -
underhill_mtI'm a Kiku fan. I dig their delivery more than eating at their resto, though. Prices are good and the sushi is delish. Their spicy roll combo is one of my classic cravings. -
whatchuwantAte at Yamato last night- it was really, really good. Service was great (very nice and accommodating), and though it was a bit too cold to eat in the back, the garden is up and ready to go. -
matt foleyI've become a big fan of Mura recently. Very fresh fish, nice restaurant, fast delivery -- what more can you ask for? -
sharpieKinara. Plus they have a very nice garden in the summer. -
veetsKinara serves Sushi? I don't think so.. It is an Indian restaurant. -
frank lloyd wrongOshima is definitely one of the best. If you don't mind if your sushi place has crappy decor, try Giedo on flatbush. For the higher end variety, Blue Ribbon Sushi still reigns IMO. -
sharpieD'oh. Sakura, not Kinara. -

Now that is down on my list..Sakura.. seems expensive, uncomfortable seating, often empty and the sushi was not al that interesting or fresh. -
nuclear redactionI like the new Kiku on 7th and 11th. Mura has a nice garden out back, though I'm kind of meh on the food. -
dracomomAfter so much hype about Oshima, I finally tried it the first time. I am sorry to report that I found it inadequate. My favorite place in the hood (besides the obvious Blue Ribbon Sushi) is J Pan on 5th, and Kiku on 7th. -
chaplin'smomYamato hands down.
Been going there for years and tried every other place and always my bf and i say the same thing 'it's nice but it's no yamato.'
fresh. delicious. good portions. reasonable. outdoor garden. friendly staff. delicious food... delicious everything.
Yamato! -
samosetsalTaro. And then Blue Ribbon for a fancier meal. Taro for a regular old meal out. -
kosherdaveTaro is awesome. I think there are a lot of good ones though. Kiku is tasty and I had a nice and tasty experience at Oshima recently. This thread has decided what I'm having for dinner tonight! -
j0518The usual suspects mentioned here are all good, in my opinion. I do think that, other than Blue Ribbon, JPan does tend to give you a bit of a fancier experience, both food and atmosphere-wise.
My choice for most underrated would be Picasso Asian Fusions. Never sat there to eat, but they've been my #1 pickup and delivery option for sushi. Never had anything that wasn't impressive from there. Worth at least a couple of shots. -
longtimesloperWe love Yamato-tried a few of the other places and they were ok, but, we always go back to Yamato
