Today I checked out the condos for sale at 145 Utica Ave between St Marks & Prospect Place. Do anyone have an opinion of that area in terms of safety?

Thanks

Shithole! Although you are right down the block from the Precinct, that area provides the 77 with a majority of the Crime for the entire Precinct. Just google homicides at 1453 Prospect place and St Marks ave to get a good idea.

P.S. The corner bodega is a haven for drug dealers.

Thanks so much for your feedback about the area. What part of CH would you say is the safest area?

I can only speak for Crown Heights North. I don't know enough about Crown Heights South to comment. But I can say that the area between Eastern Parkway on the south, St. Marks to the north, Kingston to the east and Nostrand to the west is pretty safe. That doesn't mean that nothing bad ever happens, but it does mean that the majority of residents are families and homeowners from what I can tell. Property crime is a concern, so get a secondary lock on your door and don't advertise your possessions. Also, be careful coming home late at night. I've never had anything happen to me, BUT everything shuts down practically after 9 PM which makes things a bit less safe. It's always wise to be cautious when there are no businesses open or people walking about.

Oh, by the way, there was a shooting at 187 Utica Ave just a few days ago. It's a good thing there is a precinct right up the block.
