developer flees with coop buyers money

I heard a story today on the radio about a developer that fled to Israel with money that was paid to purchase a bunch of COOP apartments at 2 CH locations.

Anybody have any details?

I feel bad, those people trusted him due to religious and community ties. Which is sometimes a HUGE mistake...

Yeah, as if people are automatically trustworthy simply because they're religious.

I hate to say it, but some of the worst slumlords in the city are Orthodox Jews.

Religious observance and whether or not someone is a mensch are two totally different things.
