Gothamist Map reports that a shooting occured at 150 5th Avenue (between Sterling and St. John's) this morning, Saturday May 3rd, at 4.30 a.m.

I live close by, and don't know how I could have slept through. Any info?

I was at my girlfriend's last night, in the vicinity of 5th and 10th, and last night I woke up to the sounds of a couple of guys very angrily cursing at someone as they walked pretty rapidly north on 5th. There's a lot of bars in the area so it's not unusual to hear yelling in the middle of the night on weekends but this struck me as especially angry and violent in tone. It kind of made my skin crawl. And several minutes later I heard a sound that for a split-second I thought may have been three or four gunshots from very far away. At the time I pretty easily dismissed the whole thing because it seemed like there was almost certainly another explanation and I was kind of half-asleep and delusional. But now I wonder if this is what I heard. It seems doubtful that the sound would travel 15 or so blocks like that, but I don't have a lot of experience hearing gunfire in the street, so.

I don't know what time this was, either.

I suppose it's possible that the Gothamist got it wrong, but that's hard to believe, as nothing published on the Internet is ever wrong.

it wouldnt be gothamist getting it wrong anyways
it would be breakingnews.com the service which gothamist uses to plot the incidents on the google map .. they actually monitor radio traffic of police and fire for up to the minute incident reports...
