Rent increases of 5 1/2 percent for renewals of one-year leases on rent-stabilized apartments and 9 percent for two-year leases were approved yesterday by the New York City Rent Guidelines Board.

The board also approved an increase of 12 percent for vacant apartments and a flat $5 increase in monthly rents of $325 and less.

Not that anyone cares.

yuck, but not surprising. we did the 2 year lease this time (a month or two ago) because we figured with the cost of oil so high, the board would be likely to favor landlords.

If I was lucky enough to have a rent stabilized apartment I would care.

If I was lucky enough to be able to afford one that wasn't, I wouldn't.

    Care, that is.
